Ungstrup (11354), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jan 8, 2004 The aroma is sweet with notes of over-ripe cherries and a light sourness. The color is a clear amber with no head. The flavor is of sweet cherries and slightly sour with notes of wood and an extremely dry end. A fantastic flavor in a fantastic beer. A have to say thanks a million to Alex (fiulijn) for trading me this beer - thanks, Alex. omhper (10728), Stockholm, Sweden May 7, 2002 Dark brownish red. Big fresh cherry aroma. very fruity, vinuous and sweet. Only a hint of acidity. One of the beers that got me into beer sampling, and it’s just too bad that one of the worlds best fruit beers should be discontinued. Papsoe (10285), Frederiksberg, Denmark May 4, 2005 Updated: Jan 8, 2006(Bottle 25 cl) Strange brews they are the sophisticated Rodenbachs, but very nice experiences when you get used to them. But after a tour and a tasting at Rodenbach I certainly did. Light brownish with a reddish tint, very beautiful indeed. Quite acidic, perhaps a tiny hint of fruit sugars and not that much hops. A very complex beer - pity it’s retired. 060693 Oakes (6973), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Jun 25, 2000 Updated: Sep 29, 2008My first serious rate: Vintage 2000. For the last batch of this, some bottles made it to Ontario. Word of its demise was already out by the time it hit the shelves, so I stocked up as much as my broke ass could. In September 2008 I sampled my last bottle with Beershine and Kimchee. It was quite sweet up front, but got drier as it progressed through a rich cherryish body towards a lingering tart finish that eventually grips the throat. It’s got a deep rodenbachy aroma with abundant cherry still, even after 8 years. The body is starting to show a bit of thinness - it’s an old age for such a light beer. But otherwise, this is still going strong, the sense of balance undisturbed and the quality still evident. RIP Alexander. joergen (6529), Frederiksberg, Denmark Mar 11, 2006 Bottle.
