Huge thanks to TChrome for sharing this bottle. Brown-red pour with a small head. Aroma smells a lot like apple cider vinegar, without too much else going on. The flavor is a lot different - in a good way. I get a load of cherry notes, as well as some brown sugar, toffee and vinegar. Thin mouthfeel and low carbonation. Awesome.

2016 batch, on draft in a goblet. Color is a rusty copper. Can’t remember the last time a I got a new top 50 tick, let alone on draft. Murky rusty copper. Half a finger of khaki head that reduced to a slight skim with a thicker ring around the edge. Aroma is tart fruit juice. I would say more cranberry then cherry. Taste is juicy, like a alcoholic ocean spray. Touch of balsamic vinegar. Tart acidic cherry and cranberry on the back end. Strong red/brown sour malt base. Pretty good stuff, unbelievable that they were making this stuff so long ago when the sour scene just took off recently. A lot of stuff has caught up and passed it, but it’s great to finally taste the godfather of the fruited sour.

1986 vintage: Color: a red-tinged copper. Smell: sourly sweet, pleasing. Taste: One of the best beers I have had. Nice sour cherry that strengthens as it warms. Not astringent. This could be drunk all day on a hot summer day. The new version tastes nothing like the old. The new 2016 is a completely different beer. It doesn’t hold up to the old version. I don’t know why they are being rated together.

25 cL bottle poured into a snifter. Didn’t record the year of the bottle, probably 2000. Originally reviewed 12/20/2014. Deep reddish brown. Some large chunks of bubbles. A few wisps on the surface. Cherries are still quite apparent. Deep caramel. It is a little bit medicinal, but just a little. Taste is surprisingly good. Bright cherries. Nice tartness. Caramel malt. Clean finish. Lingering cherry flavor. Low carbonation, if any. Medium body. Remarkably good, especially for its age.

Rhubarb and cherry aroma. Crisp and smooth with a hint of sour. Much better than the normal Rodenbach. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

750ml bottle at the July DC tasting. Poured a very ruby red color with a very light dull off-white pink head. Aroma was boozy apricot, stonefruit. Light woody vinous notes. Light tartness. Very tasty.

750, corked and baled. Thanks for the tip, N! Pours a murky dark crimson with a loose pink fizzy head that fades pretty quickly. Tart nose, showing a nice balance between cranberries and tart cherries up front, then balsamic and raspberry in the background. Creamy medium body with lively carb, almost fizzy at first. Cherries and cranberries, then balsamic and berries on the mid palate. Long tart finish. Lovely.

2016 Bottle shared at Belgian Chimipalooza, thanks! Hazy dark amber with an off white head. Aroma of tart red fruits, light citrus, caramel, malt an overripe fruits. Flavour is moderate sweet and sour. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. (Rating split back out from original version after being merged then unmerged)

1990 vintage bottle at DHVL shared. Pours clear amber with a bubbly ring tan head. Aroma of big sherry notes up front, a touch of cheese, light mould, oxidization, toffee, woody notes and light tart overripe dark fruits. Flavour is over moderate sweet and moderate sour. Big sherry sweet palate developing into a sharp citric touch in the finish. Over medium bodied with near flat carbonation. Very nice and has held up well after all the years.

Bottle a huge thanks to ditmier for pulling out this gem. Pours out hazy brown with mahogany highlights (ya one of the last pours for me a little sludge) topped with almost no head. Aroma was very nice sweet honey, cherries, dust, vanilla, and caramel. Taste was also very nice the sweetness still holds up. Cherries, vanilla, vinegar, light tart, and ends with light sour fruit notes. Thanks again Eric for sharing this.
