Huge thanks to TChrome for sharing this bottle. Brown-red pour with a small head. Aroma smells a lot like apple cider vinegar, without too much else going on. The flavor is a lot different - in a good way. I get a load of cherry notes, as well as some brown sugar, toffee and vinegar. Thin mouthfeel and low carbonation. Awesome.

Bottle - Pours opaque brown. Cherries, sour, oak, and vinegar in the nose. Nice hints of cherries in the taste with the tartness, dark fruits, and grapes.

Bottle split with Bruce and Colin at De Heeren van Liedekercke - Denderleeuw, Belgium. Vintage 1998 (consumed in March 2013). Pours clear, red-brown with a light, bubbly off-white head. The aroma holds lots of leathery fruits, ripe cherries, very light funk. Medium sweet flavor with juicy cherries, faint earth and very mellow leathery tang. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Moderately sweet on the finish with further juicy, ripe cherries, light dryness, soft funk. Well balanced. Wonderful juicy cherry character with accents of tangy, leathery fruits. Has aged gracefully.

No estaría nada mal poder volver a tomarla.

330ml bottle - The beer pours out a beautiful purple/brown bruise like of a color (almost looking like a light grape soda) with basically nearly zero head. Aroma is really something wonderful. Strong notes of wet wood, sweet vermouth/sherry, light barnyard/funk, and something that seemed reminiscent of red wine vinegar?? The flavor starts out with a strong cherry/port like sweetness but it quickly balanced by an even tartness, layers of vanilla/oak/earth and caramel chews. It really is complex and far removed (IMO) from what the original beer must have tasted like fresh. Now it’ oxidation seems to work well with the character of the beer and creates something like a really fine brandy/port/sweet vermouth/Flemish concoction. Yowza!

UPDATED: JUN 10, 2014 Bottle thanks to Clark. Shared at Monday Night Tasting. Pours reddish brown with white head. Nose/taste of sour raspberry, oak, bright berry, light caramel and smooth vinegar tartness. Medium body. Held up incredibly well. No oxidation.

97’ bottle. Brown pour with tan head. Dark candi, brune tart fruit, other tart tones. No oxidation on flavor, light sweet and fruit like malt. No balsamic or oxidation, a winner in my book.

Clear brown of color without a head. An aroma of prunes, vanilla, spice, cherries, chocolate, raisins and ryebread. A flavor of black currants, weak sour, oak, dark beeries and dry. Still nice after all these years!

Bottle. It was a belting night, with our kid, Glen and the rest of the Belgian crew, Tom. No idea what the bar was called but what a completely mental place. THE oddest beer drinking experiance in my life and one of the best. No idea how old this beer is as the label is pretty much all perished but it’s old. Too complex for me to describe, I just don’t know enough to do it justice. It was stunning.

Bottle at home, shared with Mathieu87. APPEARANCE: clear red beer, small stable off white head. NOSE: sour, sweet, wood, fresh. TASTE: sour, fruity, wood, little flat though. Preserved amazingly! Bottle from around 1989.

Thanks Doug for the bottle. Deep copper, clear, off-white head. Bready/toasty malt, plumbs, dates, dried cherries, light sourness. Flavor: dried cherries, moderately sour, bready/toasty malt, dark bread crusts, cocoa, nutty notes, an earthy, minerally note and a lot of complex fruity notes. Complex, interesting.
