The brewer allow the beer to macerate with fresh cherries, raspberries and cranberries. After this maceration in oak, the beer re-ferments in the bottle. The result is RODENBACH Caractère Rouge, an exceptional RODENBACH with fruit maceration and a 7% alcohol volume. The brew is more than unique and extremely exclusive, as only 900 75-cl bottles were produced. Geunes serves this wilful beer as part of his other unique range of beer varieties in his restaurant, ’t Zilte, at the Antwerp MAS museum.

[6140-20140121] Bottle. Pungent minty raspberry aroma. Clear, red amber body with a medium-lasting creamy white head. Super fruity cherry sour raspberry stems flavour has almost a dry stone cranberry note. Medium-full bitter body. Strange but also kind of wonderful. (8/4/9/4/17) 4.2

Overheard: "Airelles?" "Cranberries." "My guess was poison... I was wrong."

750ml bottle shared @La Tana (Rome). Corpo medio, carbonazione media. Una grandissima birra!

Bopttle from Vinmonopolet. Clowing red, no carbonation to speak of. Lovely blend of berries and sour beer, everything feels fresh and true to the ingredients.

0,75 pullo@ OPP. Sameahko punertavan ruskea, hiukan kastanjanruskea. Ei näy vaahtoa. Tuoksussa hapanta marjaa, aavistus sherrya, kirsikkaa ja vadelmaa. Maussa hapanta kirsikkaa, loppupuolella vadelmaa, makeutta, kivasti sievästi hiilihappoa. Ainoa miinus omalta osalta se, ettei ole "olutmaisempaa" .

0,75l bottle @ One Pint Pub. Pours clear red with a low head. Aroma is sour berries. Flavor is sour berries with a sweet aftertaste of fresh berries. None of the acidity of lambics. Great.

Bright red pour from 22oz bomber from blackwells, at murphs. Smells like a cherry pie. Very sweet. Fruity and sour, massive taste, delicious.

Bomber into a tulip. Pours reddish brown, with a big pink head that fades quickly. Nose is cranberries and sour cherries. Taste is pleasant, tart without being astringent, Clean short finish. Very good.

Opened on the occasion of my daughter Maura’s baptism. Aroma: Cranberry and tart cherry come through more than raspberry; imminent tartness apparent in the nose. Oak is surprisingly light. Appearance: Rusty red, mostly flat pour with a scant off-pink head that dissipates quickly. Flavor: Cranberry more apparent up front; cherry comes through toward the finish with a lingering tartness. Palate: Light body, slick texture, soft carbonation, long finish. Overall: A superlative example of the Flemish Red style, and a fantastically pleasing beer otherwise. The rosé of the beer world.

This has a nice fruity but not sweet aroma. Looks quite good. This is truly excellent. A mixture of the fruits and a perfect blend of sweet and sour, such that it’s never too sweet and the sourness isn’t extreme either. Truly an amazing beer who’s only real complaint is the prohibitive price. Fantastic.

Red with fastly disappearing pink head. Excellent fruity aroma. Taste sweeter when expected, but not too sweet. Nice dourness full of fruity notes.
