The brewer allow the beer to macerate with fresh cherries, raspberries and cranberries. After this maceration in oak, the beer re-ferments in the bottle. The result is RODENBACH Caractère Rouge, an exceptional RODENBACH with fruit maceration and a 7% alcohol volume. The brew is more than unique and extremely exclusive, as only 900 75-cl bottles were produced. Geunes serves this wilful beer as part of his other unique range of beer varieties in his restaurant, ’t Zilte, at the Antwerp MAS museum.

Pinkish-red pour. Aroma is a nice mix of the fruit used with sour cranberry/raspberry prominant early that trails off to sweet, floral cherry, vanilla, and light oak. Flavor follows suit with a nice solid sour cranberry and raspberry that finishe’s with gentle cherry and vanilla. Moderate sour with some "life" to it. Fairly straight-forward with some sweeter aspects. Refreshing and not syrupy. Very nice overall, but expensive.

Rosa til rød farge. Fin rosa skumtopp. Fruktig og tyggegummiaktig aroma. Syrlig og meget fruktig på smak. Tydelig bærpreg. Fantastisk god aperitif. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours dark cherry color with small off-white/pink head that bubbles beautifully when swirled. Aroma strong of sour cherries, sweet malty notes in background. First sip is very strong cherry/cranberry sourness with very smooth carbonation. Finish is quick and refreshing. After warming up a bit, can taste the body behind the fruit. Fruit-forward beers tend to be thin, but this beer is full and balanced yet still easy to drink. Good stuff, glad I was able to grab a bottle!

Bottle thanks to Tommy. I love this beer. Tons of juicy fruit with nice ripe berries and cherries. The back end is a very inviting bright tartness with enough malt to keep it interesting. Just a phenomenal beer.

This beer is unbelievably fruity. Gushing with sweet cherries and lightly tart raspberry, mild tartness, awesome and well-balanced.

Bottled 75cl. Deeply pleasant and dangerously drinkable. Again a beer with dandelion reminiscence in the finish.

(Rating #5091)
