The brewer allow the beer to macerate with fresh cherries, raspberries and cranberries. After this maceration in oak, the beer re-ferments in the bottle. The result is RODENBACH Caractère Rouge, an exceptional RODENBACH with fruit maceration and a 7% alcohol volume. The brew is more than unique and extremely exclusive, as only 900 75-cl bottles were produced. Geunes serves this wilful beer as part of his other unique range of beer varieties in his restaurant, ’t Zilte, at the Antwerp MAS museum.

Hazy light red to orange, sparkling with a thin bubbly vanishing head. Red berries, citrus, wood. Medium sweet with a dry and prickly finish. Not overly complex and no real funky character but very fresh and balanced. Highly sessionable.

Hazy pale red colour. Cranberry, cherry, vinegar, hints of wood and hay in the aroma. Does not have horseblanket and barnyard what one would expect. But it is even good. Cranberry at first. Cherry and some vinegar in the middle. Nice oakiness. Wine like finish. Quite complex, very well balanced, really tasty beer. Would enjoy again and again.

Rødbrun lett tåkete med lavt beige skum. Lukter solbær, vingummi og drueskall. Sur smak, sure bær, solbær og rips. Flyktig sødme. Kort. Vinøs. Tørr.

750mL bottle for NYE. Poured a murky mahogany with ring of head. Acidic, tart fruity notes of sour cherry, raspberry, grape, and cranberry all present. Slight vinegar. Great stuff, probably not worth the price tag.
