COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The brewer allow the beer to macerate with fresh cherries, raspberries and cranberries. After this maceration in oak, the beer re-ferments in the bottle. The result is RODENBACH Caractère Rouge, an exceptional RODENBACH with fruit maceration and a 7% alcohol volume. The brew is more than unique and extremely exclusive, as only 900 75-cl bottles were produced. Geunes serves this wilful beer as part of his other unique range of beer varieties in his restaurant, ’t Zilte, at the Antwerp MAS museum.

This is from the first batch, one of those 900 bottles you can read about in the description. Aged for years.Thank you Shuichi! Pours red, not really much carbonation there. Aroma of cherries, cranberries. Nicely fruity and light sourness. Taste is full of flavours, sour, some vinegar, strawberries, cherries. Silent but deadly, fully satisfying. No sharp edges but I guess that comes from the age. Aftertaste is dry, initial sweetness is still there but tannins are doing their work. I love that silent aggressive balance that this beer has.

August 2016. Fermentoren CPH. Tap. Pours reddish brown with a bit of head. Delightful aroma of fruits, ketones (?). Typically complex Rodenbach flavor with much in terms of fruits. Very pleasing.

Bottle. Pours hazy red brown with quickly fading beige head. Aroma is light sour fruity with cherries and raspberry yet malty with some caramel notes. Taste is complex and has winey character with cherry, raspberry and malty, caramel and slightly dried fruity notes to the dry end of this fantastic beer. Also tasted on tap at Søernes.

BOTTLE. Gold to ruby pour with a ruby/white head.. Insane sweet nose, hard boiled lollies, all the berries, fruit liquorice, woodiness from the barrel all combined.. Balance of sweet & tart berry flavour through out, good zesty sour kick to finish.. Sourced Cape Cellars

On tap at Whole Foods at Fairfax Corner in Fairfax, VA. Very hazy, chestnut-red with a thin pink-white head and fair to sparse lacing. Aroma of big time berries, cherries and balsamic vinegar. Taste of mashed mixed berries, balsamic vinegar and cherries. Medium body and medium/low carbonation with a smooth, light mouthfeel that pairs well with the fruity flavor. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

750 ml bottle poured at Eugene’s farewell tasting. Thanks! Very fun try. Reddish orange pour with no head. Lighter cherry aroma. Flavor is a larger cherry pie like character, with a smooth, wonderfully tart and sweet complimented finish. Memorable, and excellent on all counts. Loved it.

(Bottle) Red colour with foamy pinkish white head. Fruity, slightly sour nose with cherries, raspberries, red fruit, hints of oak wood and balsamic vinegar. Fruity, tart taste with notes of raspberries, cherries, cranberries, oak wood, balsamic vinegar and a dry and tart finish. Medium body, mainly dry. Not quite as deep and complex as the Grand Cru, but more balanced and really tasty and enjoyable. Excellent beer.

Bottle, 2013 ed. Semi clear deep red, white/pinkish quickly dissipating head. Aroma is full of berries, cherry, marzipan, tooth paste, sweet malty notes. Taste is sour in the start, dry berry sourness, later fine sweet malty notes, marzipan, cherry and candy, all while remaining freshly sour and woody in the back, finishes dry with more berries. Medium body, surprisingly high carbo. This is world class.
