The brewer allow the beer to macerate with fresh cherries, raspberries and cranberries. After this maceration in oak, the beer re-ferments in the bottle. The result is RODENBACH Caractère Rouge, an exceptional RODENBACH with fruit maceration and a 7% alcohol volume. The brew is more than unique and extremely exclusive, as only 900 75-cl bottles were produced. Geunes serves this wilful beer as part of his other unique range of beer varieties in his restaurant, ’t Zilte, at the Antwerp MAS museum.

Deliciosa!

75cl limited bottle. Pours a moderate but durable head, very light beige; orange bronzed to ruby color. The aroma is supreme, and probably its best feauture: smells every sort of type of red/blue berry, ripe fruits, with an incredible bretty and very light sweet balsamic character, wooden and cherry notes. Tastes like a really refined flanders brown, but much more nobile and complex, fruity, fresh raspberries, incredibly balanced, the brett and sour are mixed so well all together. Medium bodied, carbonation it’s there but quite subtle, really long and complex aftertaste. The smoothes brown sour I’ve ever tasted, I’m really not a fan this type of sours but this one deserves it, excellent one

The label stated Limited Edition Keg Release.
Hazy reddish brown color, small off-white head. Sweet, tart, cherries scent. Sweet, acidic, a tad acetic, green currants taste. Acidic aftertaste. Also some Salubrin. Fizzy mouthfeel, very low bitterness.

Tap at Malt House. Unfiltered amber-copper-red=brown. Creamy off-white head, steady. Lots of fruit depth in the aroma. Cherry, raspberry, ect...whereas the Foader was a little one dimensional, this is fruity, sour, awesome. Really fantastic, nails it. Oaky oily tones. Big sour. Huge fruit. World Class. Has the fruity boldness of a Lindemans with the sour depth of a more refined Belgian lambic.

Bottle. Reddish brown body with very small white head. Aroma is cherries, raspberries other red fruits and some wood and some balsamico. Taste is nearly the same with more sourness, and some additional malts. Aftertaste is nice sour and fruity with no bitterness. Very nice one.

Pours reddish brown with a transitory tiny white head. The nose is cherry, raspberries and cranberries(as per the deScription) along with the musty warmth of wood and sharp Parma violets. The taste is nicely carbonated with a massive hit of the fruits counterpointed well with oak and old ale. The cranberry gives a lovely length of finish. A complex refreshing and tasty drop!

750ml bottle. Faint cherry and sugar aroma. Smells much stronger as it warms up. Effervescent pour with a think red head that flattens out quickly. Less sour than anticipated, which is not necessarily bad. Light body with a long, even finish. Improves greatly as it warms to room temperature.

UPDATED: MAR 1, 2016 Tasted from bottle. Pours a hazy ruby with thick off white head. Aroma is fruity with cherries and other berries, a little sour aroma but not much. Taste is very well balanced with nice fruity sweetness mixed with sour tart. Flavors of cherry, raspberry, cranberry. Very drinkable. Excellent sour. One of my favorites. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
