COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The brewer allow the beer to macerate with fresh cherries, raspberries and cranberries. After this maceration in oak, the beer re-ferments in the bottle. The result is RODENBACH Caractère Rouge, an exceptional RODENBACH with fruit maceration and a 7% alcohol volume. The brew is more than unique and extremely exclusive, as only 900 75-cl bottles were produced. Geunes serves this wilful beer as part of his other unique range of beer varieties in his restaurant, ’t Zilte, at the Antwerp MAS museum.

Deep amber/red with a cream head. Nose is wood, tart, acidic, cherries, dry, cranberry, and sweet. Great palate, super tart, backed with raspberries, acidic, and a great finish.

translucent red amber with dying cream head, gone fast. Tart cherry, moderate acetic nose, bit of vinegar, light pith. With warmth it’s rubber band phenols. Flavor is more cherry, arsenic hints and NO acetic, nose deceives, lots of sugary depth with the candy, end is really sweet but balance throughout.

Bottle. Poured a red color with an average frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy sweet fruit aroma. Medium to full body with a sticky texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy fruit sweet flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate to long duration. This is a standout beer for style.

Bottle as a gift from my brother. Pours red in color with a thick pinkish white head. Aroma of cranberry, raspberry, tannins and a bit of mint. Raspberry and cranberry juice flavor with a sour cherry finish. Good stuff.

Juice-like red color. Light pink head. Nose is of wild cherry hard candy, as are some of the flavor notes. Very sharp and fragrancy fruit flavors, almost perfume-like at times. Unfortunately, there is no malt backbone to give this beer any balance or body. Just sharp and tart. Definitely drinkable, since it’s a Rodenbach offering, but not nearly as delicious, smooth or well-rounded as the Grand Cru.

Bottle corked and caged poured a deep dark red color with a thin coat of pinkish foam that fell back and retained a ring on the glass. Aroma has raspberry, berry seeds, cherry, and fruit jam sweetness. Nice use of fruits that is somewhat sangria like. Mouth feel is light and the carbonation is medium high. Flavor again has a great fruit display, more of the cranberry comes forward, raspberry, and some light sourness with that unmistakable Rodenbach house flavor. Tart but fruity and very easy to drink.

Pretty tart, but balanced by a noticeable amount of sweetness. Nice red amber color. Delicious, fairly fruit forward. Not crazy funky or very complicated. Good stuff.

750ml bottle, 2013 batch. Pours a clear red with some pink head. Nose is nice, cherry, some candy, some cough syrup, vanilla, woody. Flavor is candy sweet, cinnamon, woody, grassy, tart cherry, some raspberry, some lime. Lightly tart, grassy finish. Very nice.
