COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The brewer allow the beer to macerate with fresh cherries, raspberries and cranberries. After this maceration in oak, the beer re-ferments in the bottle. The result is RODENBACH Caractère Rouge, an exceptional RODENBACH with fruit maceration and a 7% alcohol volume. The brew is more than unique and extremely exclusive, as only 900 75-cl bottles were produced. Geunes serves this wilful beer as part of his other unique range of beer varieties in his restaurant, ’t Zilte, at the Antwerp MAS museum.

Bottle with my missy. Pours amber red with a tiny white head. Aroma of Cherry and cranberries with off-notes of Brett. In mouth aroma of oak and tannins also comes thru in the end. The flavours starts sweet but quickly turns sour to finish dry as cranberries. Fizzy carbonation. Elegant and enjoyable.

On tap at Lunar Brewing Co. and snifter served, showing a cloudy, copper color, with a modest layer of off white head foam that quickly diminished to a thin ring and light film, leaving some light dots & ribbons of lacing on the glass. The aroma intro was subtle yeast, then an expressive nose of tart cherry & berries. Medium+ bodied, with very lively carbonation, the esters remained as pronounced & tart as the aroma, added some slightly tempering sweetness, and finished with just a hint of earthy bitterness. Exceptional.

0,75l bottle at kangaruh pub shared by the gf. Red pinkish colour, small white head. Smells of perfume, berries, raspberries, acidic, marzipan, light spices. Nice smell, not very sour at all. Medium to full body, medium carbonation, slick mouthfeel. Tastes quite fruity, raspberries, cherries, berries in general, light sweetness, marzipan, nuts, almost no sourness. Finishes dry with notes of galleries and sour cherries and some marzipan. Good stuff, almost no sourness, great balance.
