COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The brewer allow the beer to macerate with fresh cherries, raspberries and cranberries. After this maceration in oak, the beer re-ferments in the bottle. The result is RODENBACH Caractère Rouge, an exceptional RODENBACH with fruit maceration and a 7% alcohol volume. The brew is more than unique and extremely exclusive, as only 900 75-cl bottles were produced. Geunes serves this wilful beer as part of his other unique range of beer varieties in his restaurant, ’t Zilte, at the Antwerp MAS museum.

UPDATED: MAR 26, 2013 Bottle (Batch 1)... This beer rocks!… Cloudy caramel-colored ale with orange highlights and a small fizzy, off-white head that never fully dissipates. The bouquet is crazy fruity; providing cherries, loads of acidity, caramel, vanilla, raspberry and red currants with a light splash of pinot noir vinegar. Medium to full bodied and super creamy with prickly carbonation. The flavor is every bit as fantastic as Alexander, but so much more fruity. Both acidic and acetic, this brew presents notes of caramel, raspberry and cherry, accompanied by a dainty splash of red wine vinegar. Sour, fruity, puckering finish. Mathieu87 provided this world class bottle of beer!

Close to perfect. Lovely, lively berry notes with raspberry dominating, vinous, tart, refreshing, great colour and mouthfeel. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle at a recent bottle share... This beer, this beer is amazing. Poured deep, dark reddish/ruby with a thin head. Sort of looked like tussin. Nose had medicinal cherries and sweetness that reminded me of simple syrup. This was nuts, just off the wall good. Sweet, fruity, fresh fruits and dessert like fruit pastries. Tart, not overly sour or acidic, sugary, fruit juice, cherries and other berry-like tones. Thick body, mellow mouthfeel. Just so balanced and the right amount of everything here. I would like another please.

An absolutely astonishing and suprising beer. Not at all what I expected from the Rodenbach name. This beer has elements of Rodenbach but also is very much like a fruit lambic. Nose is strong with the typical Rodenbach character and a touch of cherry and cranberry. It isn’t until you taste the beer that its full power becomes apparent. Quite acidic but extremely well balanced. More like an american sour than the typical flemish red it has far less of the vinegar notes in a typical rodenbach. Instead the back half the the beer is dominated by huge notes of cranberry, cherry and raspberry. Moderately sweet but sour enough to achieve near perfect balance, this beer is really only lacking in the nose, and note because the nose is bad in any ways, but just because it simply doesn’t match the incredible flavor. Probably the best Rodenbach I have ever had, and I’ve had them all at this point. Huge thanks to hopscotch for sharing this.

Bottled from Biernavigatie.nl. Ruby colored, beautiful mostly lasting head. Extremely fruity nose, cherries, raspberries, marzipan, a little bit of "Haribo" candy, but that disappears as soon as the beer warms up. Very sour flavor, but enough other flavors to back it up, fruity sweetness, malts, the Flemish Sour character clearly shines though. Full mouthfeel. Pretty extreme, but still wonderfully balanced. Absolutely fantastic brew.

750mL bottle, sent from Glouglouburp (thanks a lot, Dany), pours a deep dark amber / mahogany with a medium off-white head. Aroma is extremely potent berries, especially raspberries, with some moderate wild yeast, and a touch of sweetness. Flavour brings out intense raspberries and cherries, a light tartness and more fruitiness as mentioned. Intensely complex, featuring both aforementioned fruits. So highly drinkable and intensely fruity. Awesome - as good as Alexander.

750 ml bottle. Pours a deep red with a pink head and lacing. Aroma is big fruit and sourness. I get a lot of cherry and raspberry. Tastes of bright, fresh, sour fruit juice. So good! Side note, I had this following New Glarus Serendipity. The ideas behind the beers are very similar and it showed in the end products. This beer is very much like a sour version of Serendipity. It really takes it to a whole new level.

Bottle. Pours clear deep pinkish red, lovely colour. Incredible aroma, lots of cherry, like haribo cherry sweets with some light balsamic and light woodiness. Taste is intense cherry with wood and light vinegar. Tart on the finish. I like this a lot, better than supplication
