4.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 20/20
An absolutely astonishing and suprising beer. Not at all what I expected from the Rodenbach name. This beer has elements of Rodenbach but also is very much like a fruit lambic. Nose is strong with the typical Rodenbach character and a touch of cherry and cranberry. It isn’t until you taste the beer that its full power becomes apparent. Quite acidic but extremely well balanced. More like an american sour than the typical flemish red it has far less of the vinegar notes in a typical rodenbach. Instead the back half the the beer is dominated by huge notes of cranberry, cherry and raspberry. Moderately sweet but sour enough to achieve near perfect balance, this beer is really only lacking in the nose, and note because the nose is bad in any ways, but just because it simply doesn’t match the incredible flavor. Probably the best Rodenbach I have ever had, and I’ve had them all at this point. Huge thanks to hopscotch for sharing this.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle at cafe benelux, Milwaukee. Lightly vinegary sour cherries along with sweet red cherries. Very inviting. Slightly hazy orangish red under wispy off-white. Sweet and sour cherry that is perfectly balanced and with a complex sourness, but not overly complex overall. Lingering tingly cherry feel and flavour, medium light body, medium high carbonation.

750 ml bottle. At the Kerho, Tampere, Finland.
Hazy red color with a tiny light tan head.
Raspberries, cherries, mild sourness, musty notes and mould in the aroma.
Super smooth flavor of raspberries, cherries, red berries, yeast, mild sourness, mould and dryness. Yummy! 750 ml bottle is just enough.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle: The aroma consists of moderate cherry and raspberry (equally sweet and tart) with light lemon and a touch of a touch of oak. It’s a mostly transparent orangish-red with a one finger fizzy pink head that fades to a minimal film outlined by a very fine ring. The flavor starts with a quick dose of light cherry sweetness. The finish has moderate sour/tart raspberry, lemon, light apple, oak, and a touch of vanilla. The cranberry is there too in the finish, but I probably wouldn’t notice it without being told it’s there because my attention is really drawn to the tart raspberry. It’s light bodied with light-moderate carbonation. Overall, this is super refreshing and the fruits really work well together.

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours a nice red brown with a one finger pink head that fades to a collar. Aroma is cranberries and raspberry vinaigrette, light vanilla under it all. Taste is so complex, light cherry and cranberry, soft oak and vanilla to a tart raspberry vinaigrette that makes you pucker a bit then smooths out into a cherry vanilla. Such a great brew, shame the bottle shop is sold out.

750ml bottle @William K Kurvi. Cherry red, thin white head. Raspberries, cherries, oak. Flavor has raspberries, cherry notes, wood. Interesting, very juicy. Still no big friend of fruit beers though.
