Monger (470), Roscoe, Illinois, USA Jul 12, 2008 Large bottle from trade with RCL. Thanks Ray! Pours a hazy reddish brown color with a small off white head. Aroma of berries, oak and sherry. Taste is slightly tart and fruity but exceptionally well balanced. Flavor is semi sour but not overwhelmingly so. This is very nice and easy to drink. Has a dry, tangy and crisp finish. I liked this sour ale a lot!
mar (594), Dallas, Texas, USA Oct 7, 2008 bottle thanks to BMan1113VR. deep brown with a light cream froth top. slight cherry sour notes along with some wood. very smooth on the palate with the sour all up front and the tart in the finish. lithy (200), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Oct 6, 2008 bb 8/20/08 Ruddy brown color with a thin light tan head that leaves a ring around the snifter and nice spotty lacing. Oaky, woody wine like aromas. Some vinegar acidity. Tastes of light cherries, some heavy oak and malt, a slight tart finish. Not overly sour. Enjoyable but I like a little more tart acidity. rederic (1444), montréal, Quebec, Canada Oct 2, 2008 Dark reddish-brown color, with a tan-colored head, but falls quickly, fruity, winey, wet oaky nose, with a toasty malt accent, with a note of sweet balsamic vinegar, and a passion fruit aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a yeasty, fruity cherry-like oakiness character, with a tart and sweet maltiness, a hint of iodized tanin, with some winey balsamic vinegar flavors, leading towards a fruity, oaky, winey, tart finish. douglas88 (810), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA Sep 28, 2008 750 ml bottle. Pours a deep murky amber, almost purple color. A decent white head, but little retention. The aroma is quite complex; initially sour and woody, the sweet fruits and candies stand out also. The flavor is nice, but also very drinkable; an initial sourness, and lots of notice of the aging process, woody oak flavors throughout. The boy of the flavor is full of sweet chocolates and cherries, some light yeast also. The finish leaves quickly and clean. I found consuming a lot of this to be quite easy and fun. A good beer for sure. Hazmatt (357), Virginia, USA Sep 25, 2008 Bottle. Reddish hued amber. Very effervescent. Sour fruity aroma, vinegar, cellar scents, floral. Tangy, sour, slightly acidic. Alcohol, breaad, super diverse flavor. Pilsner beer flavor, almost macro tasting flavor sneaks through in the finish.
