JoeinUccle (666), Brussels, Belgium Apr 28, 2008 Tasty, refreshing and unique beer often overlooked at average Belgian pubs. Pours a dark ruby-brown with receding beige bubbles on top. Nose is sweet and tart with notes of sour cherries, cola and wood. Initial tartness in flavor, giving way to a light sweetness and lively carbonation. Not as complex as Grand Cru but high drinkability is a fair trade. Excellent for nice weather and seafood.
tronraner (1399), (Louis-, Sevier-, Knox-)ville, Tennessee, USA Aug 26, 2008 Bottle. Pours a dark red-brown with creamy beige head. The aroma is sweet and oaky with some chocolate and ripe fruit notes. The flavor begins with a mellow, sour acidity that fades into a pretty strong oak presence with light chocolate and cherry. The finish is crisp and leaves a fruit and oak aftertaste. It’s a little bit lacking in the complexity department, but still a nice sour. Dacrza (154), Great Meadows, New Jersey, USA Aug 25, 2008 A dense purplish brown body with a pencil-thin white head; intimidating yet beguiling... SOUR--but not sour patch--fresh and flowery... intense... light-bodied but the presence is apparent; clean (no tracing on the glass is proof), so much that the mouth could forget the experience seconds after... WOW: a tartness early, with sugary sweetness throughout--and yet a mellow, fizzy finish! The beer’s as fun as it gets, pleasantly poppy and refreshing, especially on a humid evening such as this...
Borresteijn (509), Amstelveen, Netherlands Aug 22, 2008 Bottle. Deep red beer, off-white head. Aroma of red fruits, tart, yeast. Flavour is sour, yeast, red fruits, cherries, some wood. Ottima Odeed (1480), Bakersfield, California, USA Aug 13, 2008 murky brownish/orange with a small light brown head that just forms on the top of the beer.i pick up caramel malts, cherries, some funk, and berries.flavor is oak,and the rest of the aroma flavors.not as complex as the grand cru but still really nice.
