4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 thewolf (9883) - Kolding, DENMARK - MAY 7, 2013
Tap @ ZBF 2013.
Pours clear amber with a large, creamy off-white head. Really wonderful looks for a sour ale. Aroma has tartness, lactic acid, caramel, toffee, light funk. Medium to low carbonation, lovely dry and creamy mouthfeel. Flavour is elegantly tart, caramel, sharp lactic, mild vinegar, some toffee. Long, lingering sharp tartness. Magnifico!

small beige initial head that disappears quickly, no lacing. slightly hazy red-brown body. great aroma complex of lactic acid sourness, wood, wine and rodenbach grand cru-like. just a delicious rodenbach like taste, perhaps a bit more sour than the grand cru. complex finish with tones of wood and wine. really great stuff! tried at ZBF 2013 on tap on 27/04/2013
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 Geuzelambix (243) - København, DENMARK - APR 6, 2013
Great and strange beer with the usual Rodenbach sourness and with almost British flatish palate. Drinkable to the extreme. Had it at Zalm. The place wasn’t charming, but nom nom that beer...

Thankfully found my lost tasting book of notes so rating this one from Brussels Belgian Beer Weekend a little late.
Hazy amber coloured beer with a nice yellow head.Strong and interesting aromas of wood and sour berries. In the taste wood again and sour berries feature.Really need to try this one again but i am surrounded by all these wonderfull beers and need to sample as many as i can. Will certainly seek this sour ale out again in the future.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Foffern (738) - Bodø, NORWAY - SEP 17, 2012
On tap at Belgian Beer Weekend, Brussels. Pours a hazy amber colour with a nice and big compact light beige head. The aroma is sour with wood, black currants and sour berries. A more classic flemish bruin in the flavour with leather, oak and bitter berries. Light and slick mouthfeel, and a light bitterness. Little bit untypical aroma but a great taste.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 JoeinEscazú (1324) - San Jose, COSTA RICA - SEP 11, 2012
Those who wish Rodenbach just bottle the old stuff straight from the foeders and skip the blending part should try the Foederbier first, then decide. It’s an amber color, sparkling, tart and fairly dry. It’s refreshing and tasty but also lacks depth, being simpler than the Grand Cru, which is partly blended with younger beer. Educational.
