From ’t Vosken in Gent. Clear, ruby red. Not much head or carbonation. Very strong acetic aroma and flavor. Some malt flavor. No hops in the aroma or flavor. Strong acetic vinegar component. Some oak. Quite nice, but not for the faint of heart. Not positive if the very strong acetic component is intentional or if this keg has been sitting around a bit too long.

10cl draught sample at Zythos Bierfestival, Leuven. Almost transparant brown color, offwhite creamy head that nicely laces. Vinous Rodenbach nose but the taste is less prominent, uncarbonated, a little watery but nicely sour.

On tap at Beer Temple, Amsterdam. Hazy light brown color, ok foam. High aroma intensity; stable, oak, autumn leaves, red berries. Medium body & medium/high complexity. High sourness with some bitterness. Very enjoyable ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

(Draught at Beer Temple, Amsterdam, 1 March 2015) Brownish amber colour with foamy, off-white head. Fruity, sourish nose with notes of tart fruit, vinegar, oak wood and caramel. Fruity, tart taste with a slightly sharp vinegar taste, caramel, black-currant, sour fruit and a bitter-sweet finish with a touch of balsamic vinegar. Medium body, with a slightly bitter-sweet character. Fresh, tasty and quite tart. Not as complex and balanced as the Grand Cru, but still ... a nice one.

UPDATED: MAR 13, 2015 After just missing this beer in Belgium a couple of times I find it serendipitous that it should be on at Six Degrees North in my hometown of Aberdeen. It pours clear deep red-brown with small beige head. The nose is earthy, funky, damp wood, sweet tangy berry and sour red fruits. The taste is crisp, tart. yet sweet and tangy, strawberry, cherry, acidic pucker, earth, wet leaf, wood and balsamic vinegar. Finishes up dry. Medium body and fine carbonation. I rather like the balance. Tasty and very drinkable. Rodenbach I expected nothing less. Originally a 4, but after a couple more halves this crept up to a 4.2 easy. Damn drinkable.

Draft at Beer Temple. They even had the specific Foederbier glass, kudo’s for that. Aroma of oak and red fruit. Taste is dry and sour, with oak, tart and some distant cherry-like fruit. Very drinkable and tasty, good beer.

Tap at Beer Temple, 19th December 14. Aroma is sour, wood, grapes. Flavour is sour, booze soaked wood, almost slightly ciderish. It’s OK, not as clean as I would like
