TomDecapolis (3130), Skippack, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 9, 2009 Tap at capons. Pours a deeper brownish amber that had little to no head. Aroma was initially all vinegar…and I cannot stand vinegar…yuck. As I let it sit though it aired out a bit. Aroma turned from mostly vinegar to more of a sourness, some deep sour cherry notes along with a touch of some malt/grain sweetness. Flavor was more sour than vinegar like. Tart acidity. I’m torn on this one. My hate for vinegar probably weighs in a bit more here, but it is what it is. austone (999), Turku; Pori, Finland Mar 7, 2009 Dark, a tad hazy ruby with small beige head. Good sour balsamico aroma, some Käck-liquorice, sour cherries and sugary sweetness. Flavor starts quite sharp with sour balsamico and strong cherry; after a while there’s berry, wood and liquorice notes. Berry vinous finish with sweetish candi sugar. Medium bodied, a bit sticky but well carbonated mouthfeel, leaves a warming sting in the throat. After the palate gets over that vinegary attack, it really opens up. A charming sour. Davros (202), Australia Mar 6, 2009 First sour ale. Been putting this one off for ages, but realised it’s 4 months past it’s use by, so time to face my fears!
Head lasts for all of two seconds before dissapearing without a trace. Dark, fiery, ruby red, perfectly clear.
Aroma is sweet red wine (lambrusco?), vinegar, stale sweat, more vinergar, sweet plums, vinegar, raisins, brandy, and more vinergar.
Taste is (surprise!) vinegar, unripe plums, astringent lemon peel. I can feel my stomach shuddering in protest. No where near as crazy as the aroma though. Rather pleasant actually, after a few sips. Phwoar! This is once crazy mofo style right here! Cherry and other dark fruits are apparent after being desensitised to the vinegar.
Slightly watery, with active carbonation giving it extra tang (as if it needed it).
No way I’d be drinking more than one of these in a week, let alone a night. However, this is my first sour ale... Crazy crazy crazy. garmonbozia (226), Hattiesburg, Mississippi, USA Mar 3, 2009 Bottle from Vintage Cellars in VA. Nice reddish color with a vinager taste. There was a tase of citrus all in there. Will have to drink again. I love sours SeanMacGC (233), Dublin, Ireland Feb 19, 2009 Bottle, 33cl. Pours dark russet, with little or no head. Pungent on the nose of sweet vinegar and sour cream, and very distinctive on the palate of bitter citrus and gooseberries! Something of an acquired taste, and not sure that I’m prepared to try. rozsoma (43), Győr, Hungary Feb 17, 2009 red colour, aroma is fruity, some cherry and grape (citrus) , very fizzy carbonation, and doesn’t leave it. light to mediium body, for me it is too much sour (vinegar) make itself a bit hard-drinking.
it’s almost a wine. finish is alcoholic.
i have waited more from this beer. arrogantb (695), Denver, Colorado, USA Feb 15, 2009 750ml bottle $8 courtesy of Beverage World in Ft. Oglethorp, GA. Nice dark ruby red color. This smells awesome, glue, vinegar, sour, lemons. The flavor seems to lean more towards eating glue and sucking on a lemon at the same time but is definitely a little more sour than the regular Rodenbach. For only $8 this was an outstanding value.

Lots of carbonation but a soft thin off white cove for a head. Aroma is cherries, oak, light vinegar acidity. Taste is a huge fruity bouquet, cherries, raspberries, plums, green apples, nice lifting sourness, and a woody oak finish.
