4.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 19/20
UPDATED: JUL 31, 2006 Dark reddish brown slightly cloudy body with a large beige head that vanishes, leaving sheets of lacing. Nose of a Belgian sour with some sweet fruit, cherries rather than berries, I thought. Taste of sour cheeries, grapes, vanilla and woody oaky overtones from the aging. Long sour and bitter finish. Perfect with Alsacian Charcroute Garni — indeed, the sourness of the sauerkraut makes the beer almost sweet. Again, sweet fruit and oak, but the dominant flavor is definitely Flemish sour. // I just tweaked the rating on this one to normalize it. It’sjust a little better than some of the other beers I rated as a 4.2 so I needed to get it up to a 4.3.

Hazy light ruby topped by a huge, airy, off white cap. Aroma and flavor of must, funk, earth, oak, cherry, vinegar, and sourness. Medium body, well carbonated. Refreshing brew.

Pours a clear deep burgundy color with lots of bubbles and a nice amount of froathy offwhite head. Aroma is very winey, oak, sour berries and flowers- very distinct scent. Flavor is very sour - like unripened raspberries. Very acidic and an oaky undertone. Overall, too much sour for me.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Small beige head quickly disappears. Deep dark red body like slightly watery red wine, with some ongoing carbonation. Deep, acidic vinous aroma of wild berries, fruit, and wine, with a sharpish edge. Deep, intensely acidic taste, again of wild berries, wine, and wood. Sharp aftertaste. Excellent! A unique beer. (0.33l bottle.)

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
The Grand Cru had me intimidated before I tried it, because I had heard how sour it was. I’m not a big fan of overly sour or sweet brews, but I went for the Grand Cru experience anyway. What a great suprise! The pour was dark red with an off-white head. The head dissipated rather quickly, and the aroma was of sour grapes. The mouthfeel was light and airy, with plenty of carbonation. The taste was great. The sourness is there to be sure, but it doesn’t completely overwhelm. I really liked the flavor, and could easily drink a few of these in a session.

Bought an old bottle(Green)from stuffed sandwich on wednesday, couldn’t wait for it! Poured with no head, I could smell the aroma from a foot away. Very sour, but mellow aftertaste, woody. dry on the palate. Sam took good care of this one, great brew!

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: JAN 5, 2007 Pours a rustic red. Aroma of vinegar, oak, and sour grapes. The flavor starts of acidic and very tart. Once my tastes settled I noticed the oak, cherry, lemon and saltiness. The sourness is balanced with a complex woody aftertaste. Incredible beer.

750ml bottle. Pours a clear dark red with a thin off white head that gives off a fine lacing through the glass. It has a very sour vinegar nose but it is a wonderful smell (hints of wood, malt and sour grapes). The flavor is sour as well. Grapes, cherries, vinegar with a sweet malt finish. Its all over the palate! Amazing beer.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: SEP 17, 2013 I have been wanting to try this one for several years now. Sampled from an 11.2 oz brown bottle this beer poured a reddish-brown color with a small tan head. The aroma was sour and tangy cider vinegar with some light sweet fruits underneath. The mouthfeel is moderately thick. The flavor is very bitter and tangy cider vinegar with some bitter ripe fruits underneath. Too much vinegar for my taste.
