Full bouquet of raisin, cherry, sour white grape, sherry cask and a bit of barnyard with minor hints of alcohol. Flavor much the same as the nose: sour white grapes with cask/ barrel characteristics are predominant. Finish is dry. Very enjoyable. enginaaron (73), San Diego, California, USA

(I lost my notes so this is to the best of my memory.) Strong sour ale colored deep red with light head. Tastes of cherries but also a rich, malty fruit I can’t put my finger on. Very interesting aroma and aftertaste. I think it has something to do with the aging in oak barrels. Very rich and strong. Quite good. esjaygee (1519), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA

Aroma of paint thinner, sourness, mild cherry and mild oak. Taste is massively sour and dry throughout with a sour finish. Some of the oak character does come out but it only gets me thinking how I’m not a big fan of things aged in barrels, I don’t get the fascination. At least this one wasn’t a whiskey barrel. Nose is full of sweetened red fruits, cherries and raspberries mainly(think berry compote). Palate is chock full of liquered morello cherries with substantial tart dryness on the finish. Flavor is full of tartness, with a symphony of medium malts and dark fruits just behind it. Really a great beer, on par with Duchess de Borgogne, one of my favorite beers. If you like sour ales, you have to try this one. BoBoChamp (1346), Gent, Belgium
