esjaygee (1467), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA Jul 27, 2008 Bottle thanks to Ughsmash. Brownish red with a medium fluffy off-white dissipating head. Aroma of paint thinner, sourness, mild cherry and mild oak. Taste is massively sour and dry throughout with a sour finish. Some of the oak character does come out but it only gets me thinking how I’m not a big fan of things aged in barrels, I don’t get the fascination. At least this one wasn’t a whiskey barrel. Chrism86 (273), Melbourne, Australia Jul 26, 2008 Pours dark red with a small of white head. Nose is full of sweetened red fruits, cherries and raspberries mainly(think berry compote). Palate is chock full of liquered morello cherries with substantial tart dryness on the finish. A killer dessert beer!! xibalba89 (147), New York, New York, USA Jul 20, 2008 Pours a dark red with a decent head. Flavor is full of tartness, with a symphony of medium malts and dark fruits just behind it. Really a great beer, on par with Duchess de Borgogne, one of my favorite beers. If you like sour ales, you have to try this one. BoBoChamp (1334), Gent, Belgium Jul 20, 2008 33cl, from De Hopduvel Gent, complex sour brew, easy to drink, clear, good head, very good brew beachbum25 (778), Powellville, Maryland, USA Jul 19, 2008 11.2 oz bottle-cloudy red color w/a very slight white head & good lacing. Sour cherry aroma. Sour, tart flavor of cherries, currents, & dark fruit. This one was a little intense; I wouldn’t drink it all the time, but it was a nice change of pace. NIce after dinner sipper. Long carbonated finish. BMan1113VR (2758), Los Angeles (and Dallas), Texas, USA Jul 18, 2008 On tap at Luka’s in Oakland. Pours a dark, murky red with a small off-white head. Aroma of sour, oak, cherries, some vanilla and caramel as well. Taste is sour at first and a bit sweet and watery in the finish. Currants and sour cherries. Odd mouthfeel of syrupyness with some fizz. zootfinster (179), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jul 16, 2008 I really don’t like this beer. The taste of cherries and currants is far too strong and so is the acidity. The aroma is equally as distasteful as the taste. It looks like coca cola and I personally think coke tastes better I’d rate it lower but I didn’t want to get into the Bud Light territory twitcher (293), framingham, Massachusetts, USA Jul 13, 2008 smaller bottle. Pours a deep dull mahogany color with some amber highlights. Little to no head, though what is there leaves a decent ring throughout. Aromas of heavy syrupy sweetness and sour acidic cherry notes. Flavor starts with a big smack of fruity tartness- cherries stand out. The tart notes are very heavy, but not as aggressive as lambic sourness. Underlying sweetness works well, ensuring the brew isn’t overpowering on the tart notes. Very full bodied and full flavored on the palate, with a suprisingly clean finish given the body and tartness. A good summertime sipping beer, ideal for those mid afternoon times when one wants a brew but needs to continue with household chores.
