BonVoeux (40), Beveren-Leie, Belgium Feb 10, 2008 Bottle, 33 cl. Last friday.
Deep, dark brown color, nice creamy head.
Sweet aroma a mix fruit and dark malts. Flavor is complex, bit sour, fruits, dark malts, finishes with a bit sour cherry.
GOOD. rustychiles (1007), Mesa, Arizona, USA Feb 9, 2008 On tap at Papago Brewing in Scottsdale AZ.
Pours a nice red translucent color with a decent sized head. Smells like sour cherry with a hint of vinegar. Taste is pleasantly surprising and plays a number on your tongue. Excellent balance between sour cherries and a underlying sweetness along with hints of oak. Delicious! armando629 (956), Budapest, Hungary Feb 6, 2008 0,33 l bottle. i was surprised because of the big head and the beautiful red-copper color. Nice appearance. In the nose is some cherry with a little acidic aroma. Fine sour taste with a light carbonation goes down on the tongue. You can feel the woodiness with cherry-sour finish Fine sour beer. grant (792), Long Beach, CA/Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Feb 3, 2008 Really interesting red-tinged brown with a relatively white eggshell head developing. Aroma is quite acetic with prominent oak as well, cherries, dried cranberries, light acetone. Very punchy sourness up front which quickly fades, leaving sour and sweet cherries, complex woodiness and a lightly bitter, tobaccoey finish. Great stuff, ridiculously drinkable. pantani (1894), Salinas, California, USA Feb 3, 2008 Brown ruby with a thin tan head. Aroma is alcohol, oak, a rum like tinge to it, a little bit of caramel, vinegar and dried fruit. Taste is a very pleasant sourness, light alcohol, black cherries. badlizard (2325), Berkeley, California, USA Feb 3, 2008 330 ml bottle from Holiday. Dark reddish brown with a fizzy head. Vinegar, fruit, and oak in the aroma. Really nicely balanced between the sweet and sour tastes, cherry, vinegar, and oak dominate with some lemon tartness to the finish. Quite good. Goodgrief (1144), Middletown, Delaware, USA Feb 3, 2008 July 2006 - Aroma of vinegar and cherries. Flavor was sour from the vinegar and some sweetness from fruit (I think cherry). Of course it’s tart, but sweet, too. I’m digging it....not that I know what I’m digging, as I haven’t had many of these. This seems like the perfect blend of tart and sweet. mistersinalin (367), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA Feb 2, 2008 Had a glass at Buster’s on 28th. It wasn’t quite as sour as regular Rodenbach, but very smooth and a very welcome option at a local bar.
