Naka (524), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 28, 2008 12 oz. A dark translucent brown color with a little bit of a reddish hue. Nose of sweet cherries, spices, and a little bit of sour. Some smoked wood in there too. A lot of sour flavor; tart and fruity; strong cherries almost like a kriek lambic. A sticky syrupy body. Not what I expected, but very enjoyable. nightrider (370), encinitas, California, USA Jan 26, 2008 Poured from a 750 ml. bottle at Churchills. Minimal whitsh head with a murky brown appearance. Great sour fruit aroma wakes you up. Tart sourness on the palate and mild carbonation. Light. Flavors of vinegar, cherry, sour apple. Great long tastes on your tongue. Superior ale for sure. doubleo (1096), San Diego, California, USA Jan 23, 2008 750ml bottle. Pours brown/red. Thin off-white head that fades to nothing. Smells of sweet and sour red fruits. Tastes of sour and then sweet cherries. Medium body with crisp carbonation. Awesome brew! papajohn (1054), San Diego (Mira Mesa), California, USA Jan 22, 2008 Bottle from Holiday Wine Cellar: Deep cherry-burgandy color with a fast fading light beige head. Aroma is sharp acidic red wine vinegar: Flavor starts tart black cherry and red grapes followed by green apple, red wine vineger, some wood and a dry acidic finish. Medium body is crisp and tangy with champange like carbonation. marcus (1826), Sacramento, California, USA Jan 20, 2008 330ml bottle. This dark brown ale poured into a Rodenbach Grand Cru tulip with a decent beige head, eliciting a sour fruity aroma. The flavor is complex, yet mellow - predominantly sour cherries, oak and yeast. This is very drinkable. stefanje (937), (Santee) San Diego, California, USA Jan 20, 2008 750 ml bottle from Liar’s club. Poured a murky chestnut brown with a big khaki head that receded to 1/4 inch. The aroma was complex with sour fruits in the forefront--mostly grapes but also cherries and currants; also present are notes cognac and oak. The flavor is pleasingly sweet and sour with elements of sour grapes and sweet currants. Very nice effect. The mouthfeel was a bit thin but it seemed o suit the ale well, what was a bit distracting was a slightly gritty and astringent mouthfeel that developed during the finish. The finish was otherwise long and sweet with lingering cherries. Overall: If I was to brew a sour beer this is what I’d shoot for. Recommended. asedzie (453), San Francisco, California, USA Jan 19, 2008 Bottle. Sour vinious aroma, with hints of toffee and musty yeast. Flavor is woody, lightly fruity sourness. charlotte (1997), Vanløse, Denmark Jan 19, 2008 Amber reddish colour with small head.Taste of Grapes and Raspberrys, slight sour but mild.My first sour ale so its was o.k.
