Rodenbach Grand Cru

A deep red brown pour with a light off white head. An aroma that is very fruity it reminds me of cherries. A tartness that I really enjoy. Cherries come through in the flavor as well. A bit over the top on the carboantion even for the style but the palate overall is solid and rich. Overall an excellent beer that I’’ve waited too long to try.

On tap at Map Room, Chicago. Tasted very fresh and just outstanding. Highly carbonated-- kind of fizzy-- reminded me a little of champagne mouth feel. Not overly sour and a very clean after taste. I drank this after several other big Belgian and IPA beers, so I can’t really comment on the subtle flavors. It was the perfect beer to finish off a great Friday night in Chicago.

Bottle. Pours deep red / ruby with brownish head. Aroma is vinegary / sour at first but this quickly changes as the fruit, especially cherry quickly comes through. Taste is sharp and malty with woody / fruity / acidic. This ale is very well balanced and is a joy to drink.

Bottle. First time with a Flemish sour. OMG did this suck. Aromas of hay, straw and dark bread for the malt, perfume for the hops, and mold for the yeast with wood, cherry, medicine and a heavy dose of vinegar. Head is fizzy off white with good lacing and is mostly lasting, color is hazy red/brown. Flavor is pretty rough, starts lightly sweet heavily acidic, acetic and sour then finished just sour and acetic like fruit juice gone bad. Palate is light to medium, watery with a fizzy carbonation and finishes extremely astringent. This would make a good oven degreaser or salad dressing.

330 ml bottle. Dark brown with a small haze, possibly from yeast in the bottle. Small coarse white head. Funky sourish oaky wooden aroma. Sharp acidic bite at first then a more rounded malt flavour. Nice balance between malt complexity and sharp acids. Finish leaves mouth dry with a wooden impression. A beer that stands out and has its own unique character. Excellent stuff.

Nice glowing hue. Small head off white. Good red cherry sour taste. Like sucking off of a bunch of cherry skins. Tart, but in the end really great. Terrific balance. Some yeast thrown in. This was a nice addition to my meal.

Pours a very dark ruby with some tan head. Just a great musty, yeasty nose. Fruit skins are very present as well. I could sniff this sucker for a long time. But hey. Drinking is better than smelling! Well for the most part. Flavor is strong with raspberry qualities. Smooth and even, it delivers on the palate in a way which never wanders. Feel is even and smooth with not a whole lot of bubble to it. Kind of borders on syrupy. Highly drinkable. Definitely worth trying. Damn good brew.

This was a good sour poured dark brown and was not bad at all,a style i am likeing more and enjoying with a sweet finish.CHEERS 1
