A blend of 1/3 young beer and 2/3 of beer aged 2 years in large oak vats. The more important proportion of oak matured beer contributes to its fruity taste, complexity and intensity. The finish is worthy of a great wine.

Rated 3/20/13. 750ml bottle into a Duvel tulip. A: Pours a murky brown color. The head is a one finger light mocha shade that features a beautiful creaminess to it. Lacing is great for the style. S: A lot going on in this one, and a lot going on that I love, as well. Huge sourness (mainly lactic) is augmented brilliantly by tart cherries. Underneath that are layers of oak and cream. It’s complex enough, and immensely enjoyable. T: The first note on the palate is a wave of pleasant, well-restrained sourness. Then, fantastic cherry notes overtake the midtaste before a finish that strikes a balance between cream-like sweetness and oaky dryness. It’s not the sourness or the fruitiness that lures me into this one; it’s the sophisticated cohesion between all the different elements which does so. M: Crisp and light, not to mention refreshing. Mellow dryness and carbonation help it go down with incredible ease. O: Wow, this kicks ass. On the right kind of day (let’s say perfectly sunny, 80F, sitting on a patio) I’d have no trouble crushing multiple 750ml bottles of this left and right. Beautiful stuff, this one.

Als niet fan van Kriek achtige bieren vind ik deze nog best lekker. Rood/bruinachtige kleur met zurige smaak maar hele lichte afdronk. Lekkere kersen nasmaak.

Plum / brown coloured, with a small and rapidly diminishing white head. There is a plummy side to the aroma too, along with good vinegar and stewed tea. Carbonation is low but the tartness makes it lively in the mouth. Not so tart that it makes you wince though - the edge is taken off by some sweeter malt, dried fruit and vanilla. But the predominant flavours are plum brandy, apple and red berries. Like it.

Cloudy reddish brown color, average sized off white head. Aroma of red wine, vinegar and lots of sourness. Taste is again red wine and vinegar, sourness and some malty sweetness. Medium to full body, soft carbonation. Interesting.

33cl bottle. Clear, dark brown pour with minimal coffee head, little to no lacing. Aromas of grapes, green apples and brandy. Taste is dry, lightly sweet, little to no bitterness. Really lively palate, fresh carbonation. Aftertaste is sophisticated and fresh, but warm in a lots-of-alcohol -way. Great stuff.

Bottle at home. Pours reddish brown, beige head. Sour and sweetish, fruits, cherry, wood, vinegar. Taste is vinegar, oak, tart berries, quite sweet. Somehow leaves a bit bland feeling. Is it because there are so many good sours nowadays? I liked the regular version more, or then it is time.

Let me start by saying, I'm not a fan of sours. This pours a deep red with a moderately persistent light tan head .... mine doesn't not have a pink hue. The nose leans strongly toward a Chardonnay with some cherry. The flavor was surprising, grape forward with cherry and a nice malt support. Finishes with a fizz with a reminisce of Champagne. Interesting. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours cloudy dark brick/oxford brown with nice highlights and small pinkish beige head that fizzes away immediately. Very fruity aroma, green and red grapes tending toward vinegar, with malt and slight oak notes. On the palate, it’s very much cherries, tart but not puckering, with strong carbonation. But the cherries lead back to vinous flavors; definitely more of a wine character than the regular version. Dry finish, quite refreshing for those who like sours.
