4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
750ml bottle poured into tulip. Pours a nice brown/copper with a finger-thick head. Aroma is mostly of green apples, but I can also perceive some sour cherries in there, and some slight barnyard aromas in the far background. When it comes to sours, my nose is not that good honnestly...this is really all I can perceive! Taste is medium sour, medium sweet; this is really well done and balanced! Body is medium, texture is rather slick, really nice. Carbonation is average and accompanies the tartness in a nice way. Finish is pretty sour and astringent. Overall, one of the best sours I’ve had, and possibly the best Flanders-type of ale I have every had. Mind you, this is the first genuine I’m having, as the others I’ve had were Quebec-made interpretations. This is the real deal, and it has earned its rating and reputation. A well done, superb sour ale.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured from a bottle into a Trappist glass. Clear dark red brown with minimal off-white head. Aroma is vinegar, prune, dried fruit, yeast, and notes of caramel. Flavour is surprisingly sweet with notes (ripe fruit, fruit syrop, fruit leather), sweet malt, a nice tart finish. Perhaps overall a bit sweet.

Really really good. Clean and oaky. It opens up with a little funk on the palate. Great beer.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
@ Party Source / Bellvue KY --- Clear dark ruby mahogany, head quickly settles to a full ivory cover, dots and specks of lace. Taste is sour cherry and malt that moves cleanly through the palate to a long, long finish that features a lingering cherry. A really solid brew, exceptional for a 6% abv. Highly recommended.

Flaska@SB.

Redbrown light beer with a very fruity aroma and an extremely sour taste. Not that different from the regular Rodenbach.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
750 ml bottle from Costco. In all particulars it seems to be the same as the variety described above.
Perhaps its just me, but I didn’t like it. Pours a clear dark brown, with tan head. Aroma of slightly sour fruit. I’d describe the taste as a ’sour Belgian’, with notes of port wine. Some may love it (apparently), but I really didn’t enjoy it at all. I don’t plan on getting this one again. In fairness, I think I didn’t like the style, so I’m probably not a fair judge how this stacks up against others of the same style.
