4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
750ml bottle poured into tulip. Pours a nice brown/copper with a finger-thick head. Aroma is mostly of green apples, but I can also perceive some sour cherries in there, and some slight barnyard aromas in the far background. When it comes to sours, my nose is not that good honnestly...this is really all I can perceive! Taste is medium sour, medium sweet; this is really well done and balanced! Body is medium, texture is rather slick, really nice. Carbonation is average and accompanies the tartness in a nice way. Finish is pretty sour and astringent. Overall, one of the best sours I’ve had, and possibly the best Flanders-type of ale I have every had. Mind you, this is the first genuine I’m having, as the others I’ve had were Quebec-made interpretations. This is the real deal, and it has earned its rating and reputation. A well done, superb sour ale.

C’est comme du cidre, ça sent le raisin et ça pétille comme du champagne mais c’est une bière d’une couleur brune. La mousse ne persiste pas. Une bière qui change.

Bottle. Looks good, deep red with a thick white head. An abundance of sourness to begin with before a sweet finish. Never really strikes a balance between the two main elements.

I know this isn’t fair, but I just do not like this style. Acetic acid just tastes like spoilage to me. And the medium body combined with the vinegar taste is quite disgusting. Dark Red. Smells like vinegar and cherries and a bit of caramel sweetness which is quite gross combined with the vinegar.. Just off-dry, medium-high sour, medium-low bitter. Tastes like vinegar, cherries, raisin, and a bit of yogurt. The body combines with the taste like a car accident. Why do people like this? The flavor is complex, but that really isn’t enough.

Caña en Cimmeria el 26-09-2015. (r2416).

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottled. Best by 01/28/17. Pours very dark chestnut brown with slightly grey-beige hear, quickly dissipating. Aroma is vinegar, sweet dark fruits, cherry, fig, caramel malt, ester sweet notes, slight oak character. Pretty solid. Flavor is slight vinegar, sweet cherry, maybe fig, dark fruits, oaky, yet refreshing for sure. Although tart it retains a lot of classic dark Belgian Ale characteristics. Really balanced. For those that aren’t too into sours, great entry beer.

From elcervecero. In Duvel glass. Watching Breaking Bad 4x04. I prefer the classic version. This one is more sour, less fine

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours a leathery brown with light head with little retention. Sour cherries dominates the nose with a hint of caramel malt. Flavor follows the aroma but adds woody and herbal (sage) notes. Mouth puckeringly sour, astringent, with a biting bitter aftertaste. Moderately high carbonation. Interesting but not my thing.
