4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Wow! Some rich cherry aromas to go along with a citrus tartness and oak richness. There is a medium body with more cherry a nice rich malty that is slightly hidden by the tart cherry. The finish is clean with hints of sweetness that balance the tartness.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
A lovely, complex, heavenly beer! Pours dark brown, slight head. Aroma of sweet/sour grape, vanilla and caramel. Taste is a fine balance of sweetness and sourness. More sweet than ’cuvee de jacobins’ but less so than ’duchess de bourgogne’. Grape juice comes through, with vanilla, and crab apple finish. A great sour beer from start to finish.

Bottle pour with homemade gruyere polenta topped with olive tapenade and skirt steak. Sour green apples and cherry tarts on the nose. Effervescent, vinegar, acidy... Very kombucha-esque. Lemon rinds, cherry skins, and even bits of dried apricot.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
330ml bottle. Brown, tinted red. Thin head, doesn’t last. Fruity, red fruits nose. First sip is sweet, then comes some sourness, sherbet like, cooking apple sourness, gooseberries, eventually mellows to a red fruit sweetness. Very light, very fizzy. Had it with some lemon curd ice cream, gotta love beer.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. Aroma is red wine, vinous tartness, cherries, apple zest, notes of vinegar and wood. More sour than tart taste, very dry. I get the feeling taste overpowers aroma in this one. Some interesting notes of wood in the finish, however, due to its quite sour taste the complexity seems to fade during drinking. I am surprised to find that the basic version is a lot more drinkable. I guess I just like less sour sour ales a lot more.

Keg at The Hanging Bat. Didn’t want to miss this during their limited ’foreign beer’ run! Pours a clear dark brown, nice off-white head. Nose has dark cherries and wood. Taste has an amazing sweet-sour thing going on. The yeastiness adding another layer. Then more fruit. A great journey of flavours.
