4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle at home, from the Bottle Shop - Brugge, 22/01/13. Night of the (re-arranged) Rodenbach Grand Cru mass online tasting.
Pours a lightly hazed deep crimson brown with a thin off white swirl of film and some bubbles at the edge of the glass. Still looking but inviting.
Nose is wood, sour cherries, light fruity balsamics, tarte figgy jam.
Taste comprises soured cherries, sweet and tarte red berries, sharp raspberries, some sugars, grandads shed, damp wood.
Medium bodied, light spritzy carbonation, tarte and dry in the finish.
Overall a great Flemish red!

Had this in the park 20/07/14 with cam and rach. pours a red brown with small poppy head. smells of sweet n sour sauce, red wine, dark cherries. taste is pretty wild. mostly malt vinegar and buttery sugar sweetness. bit of cherry in there too. the vinegar vibes kinda heavy handed. it was weird but im glad i tried it

Sour is just not my thing, but I can see why this is a great beer.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
THE supreme sour beer, not too sweet. not too sour. Not as complex as when the bottles were wrapped in paper but still good nonetheless.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Decent brew, but sourness feels bit dull. Nice berries, fruity, bit oak, light malty, spices. Too sharp sourness and acidic. Drinkable, worth to try, but not second time

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
pours a chestnut colored brown with hints and highlights of ruby. When poured vigorously, a nice 1’’ head was produced. A dense foamy head that fades quickly.
The aroma is that of tart and cidery with hints of church pews.
Tastes tart and cidery. Hints of a good wine too. A touch of oak barrels.
Light lactic tartness is refreshing. Some fruity tones are evident.
A refreshing, thirst quenching beer.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle at Känguruh Pub, Vienna. Dark red body, with a small, creamy, white head. Aroma is sour, with ripe fruits, cherry, tart, earth. Taste is dry, sour and sweet at the same time and in a great balance, with about the same aromas, also wine like, wood, some caramel. Mouthfeel is medium, with a medium, smooth carbonation and it finishes long, sour-fruity, dry. Tasty! Complex full and refreshing at the same time. The fruit and tart notes are delicious and become more complex the more this beer warms up.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle at De Paas. Pours red brown with a creamy tan head. Aroma of overripe fruits, tart red berries, caramel, sweet malt, raisins, a little barnyard funk, wood and a little apple. Flavour is over moderate sweet and moderate sour. Full bodied with light carbonation. Excellent. Had many times but this is the first time I actually rate it.
