This was a nice cherry juice and sour brown ale. It wasn’t complex, but the cherry juice is what the Rodenbach brown lacks. Fruity sour beer is always a nice treat. This beer went great with some grilled swordfish.

Small white head, pink hue, fair retention with little laceing. Dark amber colored brew with a deep red glow. Nose of cherries, spicey, cinnamony, tart/sour. Body is med/light, lightly puckering. Medium sweet maltiness, cherries, raspberry and a bit irony, some woodiness. Finish is medium dry, lightly tart. Bottled: enjoyed @ state line liquors last Belgian tasting, Thanks Robert!!

Thank you Lou18 for trading this to me. Pours a dark amber with a medium light pink head. Aroma is light boozy cherries and light malts. Flavor is very nice. Tart ripened cherries and tangy malts. I liked this quite a bit.

Bottle sampled on 2/13/07: Pours a dark copper ruby with a thin froth of white head. Aroma of dark cherry Jolly Ranchers and Kool-Ade, that’s about it. Body starts with a frothy, sugary sweetness with some caramel and mild oak. More of a cherry soda than beer, but it does taste pretty decent.

UPDATED: MAY 25, 2007 I love this beer. It is a great beer to drink regularly- thanks to spector. Smells wonderful--lots of sour cherry aroma. I love the color, it’s pretty--a nice red color. The taste is a sour cherry flavor, but not overpowering in the sour department. Great beer.

Pours a vibrant red with a foamy pink head. The nose is just as filled with cherries as the coloration would lead one to believe. Big sweet cherry candy of some sort. A mild sour apple aspect with some salt and just a hint of the lactobacillis. Foamy in the mouth, with a bit of the tingly aspect from Rodenbach, but not much, and perhaps a bit thin and syrupy. Tastes like cherry candy. Really sweet with only a hint of sourness. I think this tastes more like a malternative than a beer, but it is pretty delicious. There are some slightly sour apple elements, and a bit of salt maybe. Nothing particularly exciting, nothing particularly terrible. This reminds me of Quel Chose, though perhaps not as well done, and with perhaps a bit more in the way of character. This is one of those beers for those who hate beer.

Pours a ruby red with a red head. That interesting look is about all I can say good for this. The taste reminded me more of a bad sparkling wine than a beer. I’ll just end with .......YUCK!

Whoops I forgot to rate this the other night - bottle from Old Chicago, Brandon - very cherry! - slighty sour - light acidity - very drinkable but honestly this bottle was leaning on the side of artifical for some reason so I expected a little more. Will have to re-rate later
