Schroppfy (1729), Ohio, USA Mar 21, 2008 Weird, acetic acidic, apples - almost cidery! On top of the apple is grain of some kind, not wheat, not rice - strange. Delicious.
puzzl (1731), New York, New York, USA Sep 4, 2008 Bottle from Yespr I believe. This is sure a tasty beverage. Completely still orange pour. Aroma is a bit of yummy orange, a touch of citrusy hops on top a full, rich, old lambic-barrel oakiness. Balanced tartness with butter, almond, apple cider. Yum. Flavor is a complete delight, with a pronounced yet soft oakiness, mild lemon tart and some hay and peanuty malt. Very soft in the mouth and white wine like. Fantastic. duff (5405), Sydney, Australia, Surrey, England Aug 31, 2008 Bottle. Had this many times, but had a bottle tonight and thought i might as well rate it. This is an interesting beer. Amber in colour. Aroma shows some bretty funk, wood, calvados, chardonnay. Palate is soft (quite flat, no carbonation). palate shows some slight sweetness, some oaky, slightly caramelised characters to it, with a nice vinous (more white wine-chardonnay) characters. Bretty sourness throughout. Funky, yet restrained, and quite classy i think. The 10% is there, you can feel it, but its not really too noticeable. cgarvieuk (2356), Edinburgh, Scotland Aug 23, 2008 Bright amber ...a very light nose but cant place it and a tiny amount of vinigar on nose... sour but smoooth not particularly acidic ... very drying really quite tatsy but i cant quite place any distinct recognisable flavour ... seem to get smoother and sweeter on sitting open. henrikb (1094), Aarhus, Denmark Aug 21, 2008 Deep, deep, deep, deep beautifuuul body with a big bubbled white head; Warm sharp full amber nose, very pleasant and elegant but a little to small; Great body that builds very slowly, not a lot of acid to start with more softness and a little sweetness, quite full; But as soon as the first part of the hit the back of your tongue the acid starts to build and in a quite aggressive way becoming quite acetic. Excellent beer! Dickinsonbeer (2514), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA Jul 22, 2008 Pours a light amber coppery, mostly still with no head. Acetic acid aroma is pretty intense, tons of apple cider vinegar- acetone, acetaldehyde, malt vinegar, and tannic with a light sweetness. Lighter sweetness in the flavor, mostly sour and acidic- vinegar, light cherry pit and cherry pie, metallic penny-like hints, almond cherry pit, cyanide character. Acetic acid in the mouthfeel is prickly and sour, with more tannins and astringency and a residual apple juice sweetness in the end. Pretty good overall, but a bit to metallic and apply for me.
