Rodenbach Vintage is the unique result of selection by our Rodenbach brew masters, the barrel after two years of maturation has produced the best beer, "the best barrel of the year". The label is always the number of barrel stated and the year which marks the beginning of maturation.

Rodenbach Vintage is 100% matured old beer, resulting in superior Rodenbach Grand Cru. Its taste is complex, round, intense and refreshing. Typically, the apple tart fruitiness combined with caramel, wild honey and oak with a hint of vanilla, cherry and licorice. Its aroma has hints of caramel and oak, as well as notes of green apples mixed with honey and chocolate. The soft sour, fruity aftertaste is long and nicely balanced like a grand cru wine.

Ingredients: water, barley malt, corn, hops.

2009. Thin lace deep caramel hue. Strange smell with sour notes, oud-brownish. Good, but not for the amount you have to pay for a bottle.

750ml bottle, shared by Ray. 2010 vintage, barrel no. 144. Nice big fruity syrupy sour cherry aroma. Light wood. Good sour taste, and sweetness. Moderately hazy orange copper color. Thin off-white head, couple loose dots of lace. Smooth, crisp lighter carbonation. Good tingly sour tannins in the finish. Awesome sour brown ale.

750 ml snifter (2010 Vintage; shared by Ray). Looks good; A semi-transparent reddish-brown with off-white lacing. Smells good too; tart and a little funky with notes of oak and cherries. Tastes like it smells with a good mouthfeel. Good beer!

Pours very dark reddish brown with a small beige head. The aroma has dark cherries, good amount of oak, mild tartness, blackberries, raspberries and lots of brightness. It has a medium body that is quite crisp and has a modest amount of sharp carbonation. The flavor starts with oak, tartness, cherries, vanilla, spice and vinegar. The finish has a mix of richness and tartness. Excellent.

2010 bottle at home from drinkstore
Slightly hazy deep crimson with offwhite lacing. Tart cherry and woody notes on nose, medium carbonation, sweet at first with red wine vinegar, balsamic umami and a building citric/lactic acid sourness resulting in a complex yet drinkable release.

2011 bottle. Good but nothing special. Too sweet and not sour enough for me. Not a bad beer at all but for $21 a 750 I can’t see buying again. If you like sweeter Flanders Reds, it’s worth a try.

750ml bottle @Cimmeria. Sour, caramel, wood aromas. Pours hazy copper-reddidh, with nice tan head, vanishing, some lacing. Light body, average carbonation, crispy texture. Taste is a good combination of sour flavours, kind of lively, with more mature, wood, liquor like ones. Balanced and very enjoyable.

Bottle (750 ml). Vintage 2010. Slightly hazy amber with a beautiful medium dense and mostly lasting beige head along with some lacing. Aroma is typical of Rodenbach beers, but is so refined. There’s a lot of red fruits (especially cherries), oak, vanilla, sharp acetic notes, caramel and a nice earthy presence. Taste is also of red fruits, oak, vinegar, caramel and vanilla. Medium body. Moderate/medium carbonation. Dry finish. Very complex and tasty. Great balance. Amazing beer!
