Rodenbach Vintage is the unique result of selection by our Rodenbach brew masters, the barrel after two years of maturation has produced the best beer, "the best barrel of the year". The label is always the number of barrel stated and the year which marks the beginning of maturation.

Rodenbach Vintage is 100% matured old beer, resulting in superior Rodenbach Grand Cru. Its taste is complex, round, intense and refreshing. Typically, the apple tart fruitiness combined with caramel, wild honey and oak with a hint of vanilla, cherry and licorice. Its aroma has hints of caramel and oak, as well as notes of green apples mixed with honey and chocolate. The soft sour, fruity aftertaste is long and nicely balanced like a grand cru wine.

Ingredients: water, barley malt, corn, hops.

UPDATED: MAR 28, 2015 Bottle: 2012 vintage, about 2 years old. Thanks, Josh! Swampy brown body with a very light ruby shimmer to it. Beige cap rests softly on top, sifting to a thin film & chunky collar quickly. Aroma has notes of spicy oak barrel, creamy vanillin, underripe cherry skins, light apple cider vinegar, with a nice, mellow tartness flowing through everything. Vinous, but maybe not as much as Grand Cru. Taste is nice & tart up front with some sour apple, cherry, faint lemon, & oak-y tannins. Vinegar soaked oak staves, nice back-end vanilla, & a somewhat acidic, vinous grape skin finish. Very smooth, nice & tart. Perhaps not as tart as Grand Cru, but the barrel flavors are heavier & more apparent (vanillin, tannin, spiced woody notes). Based on other reviews, two years might be the sweet spot for the vintage series.

Bottle: 2011 vintage, almost 4 years old. Still just as lovely. Lots of spicy cherry skins, tart & acidic lemon, balsamic vinegar, oak, & huge bouts of vanilla. Great stuff as always.

7% vintage 2011, shared at Christmas Tasting. Sour nose, vinegar, tart & woodsy. Sour Flemish ale, a tasty sour beer, really nice & drinkable. I will agree with Hypo Luxa 3.6

Aroma is same as any other Rodenbach. Very nice carbonation. Very sour, nice mouthfeel. Would like to taste this on a vertical tasting.

Coppery color with a light and quickly diminishing head. Aroma is fruity dominated by cherries, also a high presence of wood is present. Flavor is slightly sweet at the beginning, lot of cherries, acidic mouthfeel and wooden notes in the final.

Bottle. Poured a clear dark brown color with an average frothy tan head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy dark fruit and sour aroma. Medium to full body with a dry smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy sour & sweet flavor with a medium to heavy Sweet & sour finish of moderate to long duration. This is another solid beer.
