4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy mahogany, with a beige head. Huge, sour nose, lots of malt, fruit and red berries, wood, and soy. Medium dry, medium bodied, very acidic. Very rich and complex taste, really well balanced sourness, lots of wood, red berries, malt, spicy and aromatic. Very long aftertaste, extremely well balanced. (2010-09-30)

4.5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Vintage 2007 - Barrel no. 230.
I love sour ales, but hadn’t had this one yet. It is light brown/orange with a bit of red, with a small head. Smells great, vinous, oaky, notes of strawberry and caramel. The taste is sour and fruity (cranberries?) and the oak is more present, with a slightly musty aftertaste. This is definitely one of the best sour ales I’ve had, and maybe beats Goudenband, my favourite so far. I’m definitely buying another one!

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: MAR 27, 2011 Bottle: 2007:
Big off white to light yellow head on top of a dirty dark orange beer with a ruby tint to it.
Smell sour, yeast, wood, lemon, red fruits and dust.
Taste earth, wood, red fruit, dust, yeast, spices, lightly toasted malts, cookies, light sour and sweet.
Aftertaste of sour and hints of sweet and something sweet cookie a like.
Low carbo, soft mouthfeel, full body and an almost oily texture.
Very well balanced. Interesting brew.

3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Brown-reddish beer with a small white head. Very nice sour cherry aroma. Taste starts off good and sour but it ends sweet (unfortunatly). (corked bottle 75cl, vintage 2008)

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
2007 Vintage. Pours cloudy brown, with a ruby tinge and a smallish head. Nose is magnificent. Take the grape, fig, and caramel of the Roche 10, and add tart cherries and just a faint bit of lemon to liven things up. Big, full flavor, right up front, that moves from sweet fruits and caramel into a burst of sour blackberry/cassis, all underlaid by a lovely hint of oak. The tartness builds with each sip, making you feel like guzzling this one down - every taste leaves you wanting more. Addicting... and utterly delicious. Fantastic!

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
2008 vintage, on draft at Stubby’s in Milwaukee. Pours a light brown with a white head. Aroma is fruity, cherry, and a little bit of funk. Light on the palate with soft carbonation. Flavor is sour, tart, cherry, and a little bit of malt. A very good beer, and a nice extension to the regular Rodenbach line-up, although I’m not sure it’s worth the mark up over the Grand Cru.
