Rodenbach Vintage is the unique result of selection by our Rodenbach brew masters, the barrel after two years of maturation has produced the best beer, "the best barrel of the year". The label is always the number of barrel stated and the year which marks the beginning of maturation.

Rodenbach Vintage is 100% matured old beer, resulting in superior Rodenbach Grand Cru. Its taste is complex, round, intense and refreshing. Typically, the apple tart fruitiness combined with caramel, wild honey and oak with a hint of vanilla, cherry and licorice. Its aroma has hints of caramel and oak, as well as notes of green apples mixed with honey and chocolate. The soft sour, fruity aftertaste is long and nicely balanced like a grand cru wine.

Ingredients: water, barley malt, corn, hops.

Couleur cerise sombre, petit col beige. Nez typique acidulé de cerises, vinaigre et fut en bois. Gout acidulé de fruits, cerises, de fut en bois, note vinaigrée et vineuse. Texture vinseuse. Je la trouve moins complexe et "sour red" que la gd cru.

Bottle. Brown pour with a beige ring of foam. Aroma is very nutty and vinegary, some oak and chocolate too. Not much red fruits for a flanders red. Flavors of balsamic vinegar, wood and some nutty and caramel sweetness. Highly acetic and sour even per style standards. Nice complexity but I expect more drinkability from a flanders red. Not as bright and fruity as Caractère Rouge and not as decadent as Duchesse which are the two best (different) examples of the style.

2011 Vintage.
Appearance: Crystal clear garney huge with a foamy light tan head.
Aroma: Sour cherries comes to mind with apple cider vinegar. Oak is mild, perhaps a touch of caramel and honey. Very nice!
Taste: The flavor is mild with a slight tartness from vinegar. The intro is sweet leaning with cherries and a touch of vanilla, while the back end gets apple cider vinegar. This is soft and mild, but drinkable and complex.
Palate: Soft with moderate but soft carbonation.
Overall: Oh this is very nice, just a nice intro sour with good complexity going on. I would buy this again.

750 ml bottle 2007 vintage, sampled in 2014. Clear, deep reddish body with a small beige head. Nobel aroma of malt, mild oak, red berries, some acidity and cellar notes. Flavor has a fine balance between sweet and sour, malty, dry fruit, acidic berries, oak, slightly spicy and moderate bitterness. Fine body and pleasant, long lasting aftertaste. Very balanced all the way, a true classic.
