Rodenbach Vintage is the unique result of selection by our Rodenbach brew masters, the barrel after two years of maturation has produced the best beer, "the best barrel of the year". The label is always the number of barrel stated and the year which marks the beginning of maturation.

Rodenbach Vintage is 100% matured old beer, resulting in superior Rodenbach Grand Cru. Its taste is complex, round, intense and refreshing. Typically, the apple tart fruitiness combined with caramel, wild honey and oak with a hint of vanilla, cherry and licorice. Its aroma has hints of caramel and oak, as well as notes of green apples mixed with honey and chocolate. The soft sour, fruity aftertaste is long and nicely balanced like a grand cru wine.

Ingredients: water, barley malt, corn, hops.

2009 bottle from barrel #145. Red/brown pour with a small beige head that dissipates quickly. Aromas of granny smith apples, wine, light oak, and yeast. Flavor is sour apple upfront and wine with some subtle oak notes coming through in the finish. So drinkable. Pleasantly sour but not so sour that it makes you squint. Very respectable. A bit pricey at $20 a bottle but worth it at least once.

Thanks HisBoyElroy on the bottle. Big carbonation. Solid vinegar smell. A strong candy/bubblegum flavor. Really nice quality sour flavor.

Refrigerated 75 cl brown bottle 2010 Vintage foil, corked & capped poured into a tulip. Pours opaque reddish brown with small beige head. Aroma is sour, medium body, medium/low carbonation, and little small bubble lacing. Taste is sour cherries, red wine, oak, and a hint of vinegar. The best tasting sour red, I think so far.

Appearance: pours a dark maroon kind of mahogany with a larger light tan head that settles down pretty quick to a moderate density, beer is pretty clear Aroma: sour, tart, cherry, red grapes, hints of a red wine, green grapes, pine, very aromatic, very complex, oak Taste: red cherry, strong tart, very sour, green apple, red wine, not sugar sweet but sweet, tangy Palate: has a frothy mouthfeel, leaves mouth dry, lively carbonation Overall: this is a beer that begs to be smelled for a while before you take the first sip, then you sip it and become even more amazed, perfect execution of this style, this is a 2011 vintage, with best by date of 1-8-16 and was enjoyed on 1-13-14

Vinous sour aroma with oak and dark fruit, cherry. Taste is great. Balanced sweet and sour. Cherry, and oaky sweets balanced with the sour. Very full flavored and no sugary sweets. Really a great one from rodenbach. A bit more full flavored and sour than grand cru. Prob 6 of 10 on the vinous scale. Lost carbonation fast, but otherwise great. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Reddish brown colour with brief, foamy, beige head. Fruity, sour nose with notes of red fruit, sour cherries, red-currant, caramel, oak wood and balsamic vinegar. Fruity, tart taste with sour cherries, blood orange, pink grapefruit, red fruit, raspberries, balsamic vinegar, toffee, caramel and a tart, slightly sweet-and-sour, finish. More than medium body, with a slight sweetness. Quite complex and with lots of character, but in exceptional balance.

Bottle of 2010 vintage, cheers Ben. Cherry cola and lactic tang on the nose. Nice crisp hit of sourness on the tongue, but acetic acid is a little high. Sweetness fits the cola and sourness well.

750 ml bottle into tulip glass; 2010 vintage, best before 2015. Pours slightly hazy dark ruby red color with a 2 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Spotty foamy lacing clings on the glass, with some light streaming carbonation. Aromas of big sour cherry, raspberry, green apple, red grape, oak, clove, red wine vinegar, leather, hay, straw, musty funk, light vanilla, and yeast earthiness. Incredible aromas with fantastic complexity and balance of oak barrel and fruity/acidic yeast notes; with great strength. Taste of sour cherry, raspberry, green apple, red grape, oak, clove, red wine vinegar, leather, hay, straw, musty funk, light vanilla, and yeast earthiness. Moderate amount of fruity tartness on the finish; with lingering notes of sour cherry, green apple, red grape, oak, clove, red wine vinegar, hay, straw, musty funk, light vanilla, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Fantastic complexity and balance of fruity/acidic yeast and oak barrel flavors; with a fantastic balance of malt/acidity and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a lightly slick and moderately acidic mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming present after the finish. Overall this is a fantastic Flanders red ale. All around awesome complexity and balance of oak barrel and fruity/acidic yeast flavors; and very smooth to sip on with the balanced acidity. A highly enjoyable offering.
