COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Rodenbach Vintage is the unique result of selection by our Rodenbach brew masters, the barrel after two years of maturation has produced the best beer, "the best barrel of the year". The label is always the number of barrel stated and the year which marks the beginning of maturation.

Rodenbach Vintage is 100% matured old beer, resulting in superior Rodenbach Grand Cru. Its taste is complex, round, intense and refreshing. Typically, the apple tart fruitiness combined with caramel, wild honey and oak with a hint of vanilla, cherry and licorice. Its aroma has hints of caramel and oak, as well as notes of green apples mixed with honey and chocolate. The soft sour, fruity aftertaste is long and nicely balanced like a grand cru wine.

Ingredients: water, barley malt, corn, hops.

2010 bottle. 750, corked, baled, and heavily foiled. Heavily corked, for that matter. I had to take big home run shots at that cork with the corkscrew--the bare hand certainly wasn’t enough. And the corkscrew, worked with only a light touch, certainly was not enough. Had to get at it like this was the last chance to make the cork scream before it went away to prison forever. Pours a murky dark amber with dark burnished edges. Dense creamy tan head that doesn’t stick around. Lots of thin sheeting lace. Big nose, though not overpowering--forceful, yet balanced, in a way that you just don’t ever see. Showing hay and balsa wood up front, balanced back against pleasantly pungent lemons and balsamic vinegar. Very soft barnyard in the background. strawberries and moss gently knocking around. Creamy medium body, tart, with a bracing acidity that’s right in balance. Strawberries, balsamic, balsa wood, hay, and bright lemony acid on the mid palate. Long sharply tart finish, almost puckery. Wonderful stuff, beautifully controlled and deeply complex.

na de fles even een half uurtje te laten ademen en op temperatuur te laten komen werden de smaken steeds beter. lekker!

Subtle yet powerful. This beer comes at you in waves. Vinegar, morello cherries, woody and vinious. Sweet and sour in unison. Well balanced and effortlessly drinkable.

2010 bottle shared at Slutfest 4. Pours a clear brownish red color with a thin creamy tan head. Decent head retention. Aroma of earthy notes, tart vinous notes, faint tannins. The taste is tart sugar and vinegar, caramel, earth, tart finish. Medium bodied, high carbonation.

2010 vintage. Pours a hazy brownish rust color with a trace fo foam the settles instantly. Aromas are bright acidic fruit, cherry, cranberry and some raspberry vinegar peaks through along with traces of old barrel earthiness. The palate follows nicely with big cherry, tart raspberry and lots of subtle wood character. Great mouthfeel thats round and almost creamy but dries out for the complex finish.

2009. Barrel 145 if that means anything. Thx Brad. Poured out a beer with stuff that hung around above the beer. Wonderful compact head. Wonderful vinegar aroma, sawdust, light pepper, lemongrass, sour cherry that is dark on occasion, not really complex but still good. Sour cherry taste, wood, mellow vinegar harshness, tart drool enducing aftertaste, this is not a cherry based beer btw. Light spice. Slight dank. Really easy to drink. It got less interesting but remained very drinkable.

2009 vintage barrel 145. Smooth sourness with a grape to cherry vinegar. Totally reminds me of hard candy that’s always beside the till at highway dinners. Taste is grape jolly ranchers with malt vinegar and all in a good way. I normally don’t dig this style but this one works for me. Nice balance between the sweet and the sour. This is candy to me. Oaky cherry is a taste I taste. I might have to buy this again.
