COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Rodenbach Vintage is the unique result of selection by our Rodenbach brew masters, the barrel after two years of maturation has produced the best beer, "the best barrel of the year". The label is always the number of barrel stated and the year which marks the beginning of maturation.

Rodenbach Vintage is 100% matured old beer, resulting in superior Rodenbach Grand Cru. Its taste is complex, round, intense and refreshing. Typically, the apple tart fruitiness combined with caramel, wild honey and oak with a hint of vanilla, cherry and licorice. Its aroma has hints of caramel and oak, as well as notes of green apples mixed with honey and chocolate. The soft sour, fruity aftertaste is long and nicely balanced like a grand cru wine.

Ingredients: water, barley malt, corn, hops.

Quite nice, but didn’t quite reach my expectations for the price premium. Red fruits and light vanilla notes. Medium acidity - excellent balance, as Rodenbach is known for.

750 mL bottle from DYCSoccer17. Thanks a bunch. Slightly rosy orange color, very fine and dense head. Very complex aroma of cherries, orange peel, spice, and less intense than expected woodiness. Strangely bifurcated flavor; moderate tartness and light sweetness seemly highly compartmentalized. Lots of red fruits and this fantastic thread of herbal bitterness throughout, vague but steady woody notes. Light acidic burn at the finish and very light bitterness. Awesomely refreshing and drinkable yet complex and nuanced.

Bottle, thanks to tytoanderso. Pours red/amber, more reddish than amber, thin off-white head, little lacing. Nose is vinegar, cherries, funk, brett, lightly cheesy, quite sweaty. Flavours run to sweet cherries, along with a very acetic (this is definitely Rodenbach!) tartness, that perfectly balances the sweetness. Cherries, leather, funk, barrel, cheese, smells great, tastes vastly better. A pretty top-notch sour right here, finish leaves me flat, it’s almost ketchup-like.

Bottle. Pours a very deep mahogany with solid light tan coloured head. Good lacing as it falls away. Good looking beer. Big aromas of sour cherry, some vingar and citrus acidity and a little oak. Unmistakably Rodenbach. Great aroma. Flavours are brilliant plenty. Equal parts acidity and sourness with some malt sweetness to balance. Plenty of vanilla near the end. Mouthfeel is on the full side. Great beer.

Pours clar dark chestnut red with a small, creamy, off-white head. Aroma has strawberries, oak, barnyard, light vinoiusness, lactic, vanilla. Soft carbonation, great dry and elegant mouthfeel. Flavour is tart, caramel, red apples. Very elegant, light berries. Deliciously simple, deliciously complex. Wonderful sugary sweetness mixed in well.

750mL bottle purchased from the Davis Food Co-Op. Aroma has nice hints of cherry, fruitiness, wood, and a little sour funk. Amazingly quaffable and well balanced aroma. Mildly hazy ruddy amber body with a nice off-white head present. Starts tart with some acetic hints, but not overly acetic and puckering. The middle has some tart cherries with a scant amount of sweet cherry notes as well. Finishes a bit dry with lasting woodiness, oakiness and nice tartness. This is absolutely amazing stuff. Incredibly well-balanced and well crafted. World class.

UPDATED: AUG 27, 2010 Red-brown pour with a small tan head. Malt vinegar aroma and flavor, some cherry, caramel, and nuts. Obvious notes of oak throughout, but this one hasn’t picked up much funk or dust. Plenty of sourness to balance out the malt. Sharp carbonation.

Reddish brown pour with a white head. The aroma has a strong apple cider note with hints of damp oak and some caramel. The flavor follows through with more apple cider vinegar, lots of wet oak and a sweet brown sugar note on the finish. Pretty much the same as the Grand Cru but it seems just a bit more mellowed out. Dry, medium body with moderate carbonation.
