COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Rodenbach Vintage is the unique result of selection by our Rodenbach brew masters, the barrel after two years of maturation has produced the best beer, "the best barrel of the year". The label is always the number of barrel stated and the year which marks the beginning of maturation.

Rodenbach Vintage is 100% matured old beer, resulting in superior Rodenbach Grand Cru. Its taste is complex, round, intense and refreshing. Typically, the apple tart fruitiness combined with caramel, wild honey and oak with a hint of vanilla, cherry and licorice. Its aroma has hints of caramel and oak, as well as notes of green apples mixed with honey and chocolate. The soft sour, fruity aftertaste is long and nicely balanced like a grand cru wine.

Ingredients: water, barley malt, corn, hops.

2009 Bottle, opened at christmas 2012, Red clear, typical Rodenbach colour, minimal white head. Lots of sparkling. Aroma is sour: cherries, green apple, vinegar, oak, leather. Taste is really nice. The sourness is predominantly present. Cherries and apples can be discriminated. Finish is tart and long. Lively carbonation. Great beer, refreshing, A sad side of this large bottle is the huge amount of sourness in my stomach, that is not always appreciated. But hey, it’s worth every drop!

750mL corked & caged Champagne bottle. Vintage 2009 Been sitting in the cellar a number of years. Not sure where it came from, but it seems like a worthy beer for #1500 Pours a gorgeous deep rustic red body, not bad clarity, holds a beige head. Richly complex aroma; aged balsamic, brown sugar, sultana, old tawny port, touch of sherry, vinous red fruits. Body has a beautiful richness to it, yet a good acetic acid bite providing great balance and drinability. Incrediably complex and delicious, where to begin - vanilla, sour apple, balsamic, sherry, toasty oak, brown sugar, cooked apple, sultana, port, touch of whisky undertone even. Tremendous length, lingering acidity and spice. Oh so good, wow, age does not weary this beer either, just make it better.

2012 Vintage. Pours brown with amber edges, almost no head and pretty much no lacing. Nose is vinegar and wine. Flavours are honey, tart apples, some caramel, maybe some port. Tastes are medium sour, light sweet. Full oily body with lively carbonation and a long vinegary finish. Really nice.

37.5cl bottle at Brasserie ’t Vosken, Ghent. I had the Rodenbach 2012 Vintage, from the oak aged ale barrel n° 170. It pours a most beautiful coloured beer in a wine-like taster glass: A dminishing yellow to beige collar tops an orange, brown, even hazy amber with lots of gloom. This vintage beer hints of course at old brown sweet and sour tastes, but it also has clear vanilla, wood and licorice marks. The creamy taste - even a bit roasted? - sticks to the roof of the mouth, giving the beer an even more vanilla palate. Lovely medium bodied Flemish old brown!

2011 Vintage. Nothing like drinking a whole bottle of this, with grilled Mexican sreet corn on a Monday night. Funky sour, acetic-sour, lightly fruity, lightly vinous, lightly oaky, some sour apple, really focused sourness. Clearish red-brown turns cloudy as the sediment becomes disturbed after a few pours.

(Rodenbach Vintage) Bottle 375 ml, corked and caged. Vintage 2012, served into a tulip at home, ABV 7% Deep ruby red colour on the body, mostly clear. Good sized but thin head, light beige in colour. Low retention. Aroma is sweet with red fruits, caramel, sugar, nice vinous notes. Very nice taste, again vinous notes, red grapes, light alcohol, begins sweet but straight away a light vinegar-like sourness enters the scene and almost dominates. Great combination. Medium thin body, good carbonation. Great beer!
