COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Rodenbach Vintage is the unique result of selection by our Rodenbach brew masters, the barrel after two years of maturation has produced the best beer, "the best barrel of the year". The label is always the number of barrel stated and the year which marks the beginning of maturation.

Rodenbach Vintage is 100% matured old beer, resulting in superior Rodenbach Grand Cru. Its taste is complex, round, intense and refreshing. Typically, the apple tart fruitiness combined with caramel, wild honey and oak with a hint of vanilla, cherry and licorice. Its aroma has hints of caramel and oak, as well as notes of green apples mixed with honey and chocolate. The soft sour, fruity aftertaste is long and nicely balanced like a grand cru wine.

Ingredients: water, barley malt, corn, hops.

Smells like sweet fermented hay. Nice red brow colour and a nice cream head. Sweet malts penetrates the silo tastes. Almost like red vinegar. Nice aftertaste, sweet and sour like a chineese dish. I can drink this, and that's saying a lot considering i don't really like sour ales:) ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle sample at a sour tasting at our place. Thanks Vova, 2011 vintage. Headless clear brown. Sweet kiddush wine with raisins, sour and vinous and a little sweet taste. Medium carbonation, medium body, tame sweet wine finish.

2012 vintage. Hazy reddish brown. Thick head, very persistent. Complex aromas that develop as the beer lingers in the glass: first, cranberries and raspberries; then, toffee and leather; finally, cookies and milk chocolate. Let it rest, don’t drink too fast. Less dry than usual for a Red Flemmish. Sheer sourness, yet not harsh. Long-lasting, with no bitterness whatsoever. Deserves the highest rank.

Yey! Close to beergasm! First impression - its al labout fruitiness, dried fruits, ripe fruits, overripe fruits, berries, it all leads to one tart fruity impression that is boosted by oaky character, decent maltiness all the way in background, caramel, even some light roasted hint with some choco expression. Complex and very well balanced, yet awesomly sippable and enjoyable.

On bottle from Vinmonopolet Vika , October release 2014. Amber color, good foam. High aroma intensity; autumn leaves, great yeast influence, red fruits, stable influence, good fruitiness- some barrel influence. Medium body & high complexity. Good sourness, light bitterness- very enjoyable. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

75cl bottle (2012) shared by Arve_Christian - thanks a lot! Pours clear copper coloured with a lasting, off-white head. Fairly fruity and slightly funky with notes of cherries, wood and a hint of balsamic vinegar. Medium sweet, complex and with nice acidity. Refreshing and very enjoyable!

Vintage 2012, 0.75 L bottle, barrel no. 170. A beautiful, reddish brown beer, a head is almost medium and light beige. Aroma is pleasant and balanced, there are cherries, nice sourness, some wine vinegar, also notes of raspberries and barrel. Taste has cherries, strong sourness, dry raspberry stones, balanced sweetness. Medium bodied, slightly sticky in the mouth as usual. The great beer, complex and balanced sourness.

Poured from a bottle it is a reddish brown color with a slight head the aroma is of sour cherries and the taste is a nice sour cherry flavor with hints of cinnamon and lemon. For not really liking sour beers this one has potential and has a lbetter defined taste.

From a 75 cl bottle, corked and caged, shared at home. Pours a hazy brown with a tan head. Aroma of overripe apples. Flavors of tart cherries, caramel and oak. Luscious mouthfeel. Very tasty. Nice choice for my 50th Sour Red/Brown rating.

37,5cl bottle, teku, Vintage 2011 (Barrel 95). Pours a small to medium beige head; cloudy, bit murky mahogany brown colour, ruby reflex. Smells oak/woody, berries, brett/acidic, come wine notes; quite complex, getting some different hints everytime. Tastes red/dark fruits, cherry, woody, earthy, lactic, some vinegar coming through; light to medium sweetness, medium sustained sour/acidic notes; oak, tart and wine like finish, astringency with some dryness too . Medium bodied, just correct light carbonation, balanced in its sweet/sour matching. Read in the reviews quite some comments comparisons with the Duchesse, those are actually quite similar, but I find the rodenbach to be on a higher level, especially in refinemnet and balance. I like more other styles of sour beer, but this was probably the best sour brown I’ve got to taste
