Rodenbach Vintage is the unique result of selection by our Rodenbach brew masters, the barrel after two years of maturation has produced the best beer, "the best barrel of the year". The label is always the number of barrel stated and the year which marks the beginning of maturation.

Rodenbach Vintage is 100% matured old beer, resulting in superior Rodenbach Grand Cru. Its taste is complex, round, intense and refreshing. Typically, the apple tart fruitiness combined with caramel, wild honey and oak with a hint of vanilla, cherry and licorice. Its aroma has hints of caramel and oak, as well as notes of green apples mixed with honey and chocolate. The soft sour, fruity aftertaste is long and nicely balanced like a grand cru wine.

Ingredients: water, barley malt, corn, hops.

The Aroma is amazing... multifaceted and full of surprises. (Tart, fruity [cherry? Apple?], some spice from the oak, a little bit of cheese, slight bit of dough). The flavor is thought provoking and beautiful, but accessible. The only perfect score I’ve given. Sean says: "what Yuletide must have been like before Santa Claus. The flavor unfolds like a time lapse of a sapling turning into a tree."

Vintage 2012 from LCBO. Warm reddish brown with whitish head that disappeared quickly leaving a rim of bubbles. Aromas of vinegar, malty apples, oak, absolutely great. Classic sour flavours of apples, caramel. Phenomenal.

2012 vintage. Hazy reddish brown. Thick head, very persistent. Complex aromas that develop as the beer lingers in the glass: first, cranberries and raspberries; then, toffee and leather; finally, cookies and milk chocolate. Let it rest, don’t drink too fast. Less dry than usual for a Red Flemmish. Sheer sourness, yet not harsh. Long-lasting, with no bitterness whatsoever. Deserves the highest rank.

Vintage 2011. Pours coppery mahogany with small fizz. Smells both tart and sweet, hints of oak and vanilla. Taste is subtle fruitiness, tartness, oak, vanilla. Medium-bodied with a smooth texture and active mouth-carbonation, Rodenbach Vintage 2011 finishes with lingering tartness.

Pours a very dark amber color with a nice quarter inch white head. I let it sit a little while to warm up. After the wait, the first sip reveals an explosion of taste and complexity. It starts off with similarities of a Belgium Quad but quickly gives way to the sour acidity that is typical of this beer style. Each sip is like cleansing the pallet with sorbet. The acidity makes your mouth water and want more. It is an excellent beer that is masterfully crafted and balanced between sweet and sour. One of ,if not the best sour ale I have ever had. If you find it, buy it and please let it sit a while to warm up. Awesome sour ale.

(Sour Monday - Triple Rock) Bottled - Absolutely awesome aroma!! Flavors of sweet currents and fresh plump raisins. Wonderful aftertaste that lingers in your mouth. This should find a nice place in my cellar if it’s not too expensive!!

UPDATED: DEC 7, 2013 Bottled from Burg Bieren, Ermelo. Red-brown colored, small brown head. Very nice nose, obviously Flemish Sour, balsamic vinegar, malts, oak. Initially sweet, later on quite intensely sour flavor, tickling in finish. A lot more my kind of Flemish Sour than the Vin the Cereale. Phenomenal. Additional note: 2008 version is more sour and closer to the Grand Cru. Imho not as great as the 2007 one, but still really good. Rating reflects 2007 version.

A taste of HEAVEN…Pours an orange-brown colored body with a spare frothy ivory head. Aroma is made up of dark berries, citrus, lime, and alcohol. The mouthfeel is medium in body and high in warmth with a biting finish. Flavor of grass, spice, cherry, subtle oak, and sour red apples. Just perfect!!!
