COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Rodenbach Vintage is the unique result of selection by our Rodenbach brew masters, the barrel after two years of maturation has produced the best beer, "the best barrel of the year". The label is always the number of barrel stated and the year which marks the beginning of maturation.

Rodenbach Vintage is 100% matured old beer, resulting in superior Rodenbach Grand Cru. Its taste is complex, round, intense and refreshing. Typically, the apple tart fruitiness combined with caramel, wild honey and oak with a hint of vanilla, cherry and licorice. Its aroma has hints of caramel and oak, as well as notes of green apples mixed with honey and chocolate. The soft sour, fruity aftertaste is long and nicely balanced like a grand cru wine.

Ingredients: water, barley malt, corn, hops.

I liked it. Maybe I even loved it. But it lacked the intensity and the complexity of its non-vintage siblings. Maybe the 2007 is just a hair too old now? I don’t know... But at almost twice the price of the standard grand cru it is a bit insipid. Yes, same oak tartness, same fresh strawberry sweetness, same malt and vinegar and it sounds great. Dark copper pour, small head, all the right stuff. But at twice the price, with a little less complexity, it was a disappointment. Dinged it a point for the price.

Reddish brown with a tanned nice head. Intense fruits and vinegar aromas. Flavor is sweet with some acid; the vinegar is taking its place. Body is thick with a sticky and long end, starting sweet and finishing deliciously sour. Carbonation is perfect.

2012 vintage opened Aug 15, 2015. Floral and vanilla aromas fill the air upon opening and pouring the clear, dark amber, slick looking liquid into the glass. The beer supports a resilient eggshell coloured head. Deep sniffs of the aroma from the glass bring the addition of marzipan, oak, sherry wine, and balsamic vinegar. Flavours bring cherry syrup, marzipan, vanilla, and caramel apples. The sweet finish turns dryish with the help of the effervescent carbonation.

Bottle 75cl shared at home for a nice celebration. Hazy brown with fizzy short lasting off white head. Quite some spices and wood up front, old red fruits, dried peach, brown bread. Then some lingering North African spices, with a dry sherry wood, bit grainy and a bit chalky. Taste is light to medium sweet and sour, with light long lasting bitter finish. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Very nice.

From Bertaux Frères Vintage 2011 -- Barrel # 95

Cloudy redish body. Quickly disapearing white head. Strong vinous aroma, sour fruits, vinegar notes and wood. Sour fruits flavours, sweet wine flavours, vinegar and woody notes. Sour vinegar and sour fruits. Medium body, fizzy carbo. I liked it but you got to have a taste for it. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A damn fine sour beer. One of the best I’ve had this year. Aroma was perfect. Sour fruit, vinegar and a distinct woodiness. Nice and sharp. Smells old and aged. Pour was a nice hazy medium brown with a one finger off white head. Taste was sour and delicious. Very sour apple, cherry and vinegar were big and bold upon first sip. Just a hint of malty sweetness until the sour finish washed everything away. Nice carbonation and outstanding beer.
