3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Dark amber with a small off-white head. Aroma is woody and slightly sour berries, acidic candy-like fruit, vanilla and caramell. Flavour is rather big, round and smooth with notes of vanilla, oak and caramell. Ends on a slightly acidic note wood berry fruit and wet wood. Mouthfeel is smooth, body is larger than expected. Very drinkable.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Love this beer. It’s truly the epitome of what I love about sour beers at the moment. Clean tart sour flavors with just the right balance of sweet fruit. Pleasant yet powerful. I could drink this anytime, anywhere, gladly.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
2011 Vintage... Pours a dark ruby red with a average sized off-white colored head which dissipates quickly. Aroma is sour cherry, , apple, very tart, oaky vanilla, and something sugary but smooth. Taste is very tart green apple, big oak note, very juicy cherries, and a soft finish of vanilla. The palate is very drinkable. Great beer, awesome to have it aged back to when I first tried the Grand Cru.

Sampled at Big Brew Beer Festival (Morristown). 2011 Vintage. Poured a hazy amber color with a frothy tan head. Aroma funk, sour cherry, and nail polish remover. Taste is much the same. Really sour and tart black cherries, and lots of funk.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
750 ml. bottle. Pours a brown reddish colour with almost no head. Smell of cherries, cider and apples, vanilla or maybe cinnamon. I can’t smell oak or sourness. Good body, sticky palate. Taste of cherries and cider. Again, I would have expected much sourness here. And more complexity.

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
2011 vintage cask 95. Perfect and deeply intricate balance of sour flavors with mild malt sweetness. Ripe, perhaps bruised Granny Smith apples. Faint barnyard flavors add interest. Some tart cherry also comes through.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
2007 Bottle, slightly out of date when shared at the 1st Shrewsbury bottle swap on 27th Jan 2014.
All four of us enjoyed it: one of my contributions.
I thought it was a lovely mellow brew, the oak aging and time in the bottle calmed down the usual Rodenbach tartness.
Poured that wonderful reddy brown only Belgian sour reds seem to be able to find, on top a thin blush coloured head.
The nose took in sour cherries, cranberries and woody notes with a mild vinegar hint.
Taste wise it showed what aging in oak can do: obviously full of old cherries and sourness it seemed smooth, settled and with a sweet undertone, almost more like cherry pie than sour cherries. A true classic and a beer I’m sure will age well should anyone be brave enough to keep any for a few more years.
A delight to drink with other people who appreciate good beer.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
This is an enjoyable beer to drink, but it's more of an into beer to sours. Considering the label states two years on oak it should be much more sour. They also call this a red (because of the oak aging) but I get no acidic flavors at all!! This seems more like a sour that was pasteurized and then back sweetened to appeal to the masses instead of the sour beer drinker

2.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Vintage 2008. Aroma has hints of cherry and red currants. Mild sourness on the nose. The color is cloudy brown with a white head and ok head retention. Flavor is only mildly sour. It's actually surprisingly sweet with black cherry notes. Beer is medium body with moderate carbonation. Overall, disappointing for the price. Not really sour or complex enough for an aged red ale.
