Smells like medium dark fruit...plum.. appearance is a brownish red, flavor is also of plum off the bat but falls flat quickly... Finishes with almost yeasty finish... Goes downhill the more you drink

12oz bottle. dark ruby color. little head. aroma of dark fruit, cherries, a bit of sweetness. First sour red Iíve ever had. Wasnít really expecting the tartness. Not over powering at all, just a nice cherry tartness. Very enjoyable and looking forward to trying a few others. Like to try this on a hot summer evening.

Piana drobna, brązowa, szybko opadła. Kolor brunatny, zmętnione. W aromacie zapach soku malinowego. Lekkie nuty chmielowe. Podobnie w smaku, wyczuwalne maliny. Piwo jest kwaskowate, ale nie na zbyt wysokim poziomie. W drugiej nucie lekki nuty brązowego piwa. Wysycenie średnie, bardzo pijalne piwo.

25cl bottl Appearance: Murky redish brown with a decent beige head which goes down quickly. Aroma: red fruit,, apples, hints of wood, acidic,, Taste is moderate sour. Light malts, some cherries, apples and a hint of wood faintly in the back. A little bit thin. Low carbonation, thin body. Classic i itís style but better go for the grand cru version.

Pours a murky amberish brown with a small light tan head that leaves a bit of spotty lacing. Aroma is oak, tart cherries, raspberries, cider, Sweet Tart candy, hints of caramel. Taste is tart berries, dark fruit, oak. Sour tartness but not overwhelmingly so. Medium bodied with light carbonation. Very nice!

Dark brown color with little foam. The smell is rather shy. The smell is slightly sour and fuller than expected. Very smooth to drink, but by far not as good as the grand cru.

UPDATED: FEB 21, 2015 Rodenbach is a classic Flanders Red, and pretty much invented the style single-handedly. And while not the most delicious sour ever made, itís definitely a safe bet and makes for a great introduction to the style.

I poured an 11.2oz bottle into a flute glass. It had a best by date of 9/7/15 and cost $4.49 ($0.40 per ounce).

Appearance: Hazy shade of cherry red/rusty mahogany. Murky, but no sediment. Pours to a two-finger, tan, soapy head which mostly dissipates but still leaves some lacing.

Smell: Oak aroma with dark fruits and berries. Slight vinegar or Brett-like character.

Taste: Palette begins with a light sourness with a dark fruit flavor. Raspberry, black currants and other tart berries and dark fruit flavors are noticeable. The oak flavor is pronounced as well, complementing the natural fruity flavors from the bacteria and yeast (thereís no actual fruit used in the brewing of this beer). Little to no hop flavor or bitterness, with a strong tart sensation on the finish. Some confectionery notes of chocolate and toffee or caramel emerge in the aftertaste momentarily. Some notes of vinegar, too, but itís quite faint and easily tolerable. Definitely a tasty beer.

Drinkability: I tend to associate sour beers with big beers, so Iím always impressed when a fairly sessionable brew like Rodenbach Ė at only 5.2% ABV Ė is sour. The mouthfeel is light and crisp with a virtually clean aftertaste (a little too clean, actually). Not really refreshing (unless drank ice cold Ė which would kind of defeat the purpose).

Nice, clean sour. Hazy dark Amber pour...almost no head. Cherries, some malt, dark fruit in the aroma. Taste is just lightly sour and vinegar. More cherry. Fairly sweet. Nice smooth mouthfeel a touch flat. Fine stuff.

Brown color with big beige head that goes down quickly. Hints of cherries, very light. Taste is malty and slightly sour. Everything very light still. Rather low carbonation. Easily drinkable, but really much weaker than expected.

Bottle. Pours hazy brown with red hues and off-white head. Aroma is very fig, prune, touch sour, chocolatey. Taste is medium bodied, low carbonation, light sour, kinda creamy. Overall, okay.
