Decent light brown head with dark brown murky body. Molasses, plum, cherry, wood, smoke and tobacco aromas. Creamy body with livey carbonation. Strong sweetness at first but fades into a balanced sourness and moderate bitter finish. Excellent beer, one of my favorites.

11.2 Fl. Oz. Bottle. Pours cloudy reddish brown with a small tan head that dissipated quickly. Aroma of dark fruits and wine. Taste is also of fruit quite consistent with aroma, sweet but with a nice mild sourness to it and a malty finish; nice flavor easy to drink and very enjoyable also quite refreshing (I wasn’t expecting that). Very good beer.

Poured from a bottle. Nice Belgian, ales, but this beer was overly sweet for my taste; could have used some more balance..

330 ml bottle. Best by 9.21.13. Pours a murky brown with a tiny off-white ring for a head. Aroma of brown sugar, berries, plums, earth, cookies, and oak. Flavor of brown sugar, plums, cola, caramel, toast, and chocolate. Very mild sourness. Medium-bodied, with low carbonation and a sweet, fruity mouthfeel. Seems like there is some oxidation present. Not bad, and glad I finally got to try this classic beer.

Deep cherrywood, thin off-white head; sour cherry aroma; fruity (cherry, raspberry), slightly sour flavour; some oak, some coke; miles better than the vinegary Grand Cru (no, I can’t explain it either), and as such a pleasant and refreshing surprise.

33cl bottle @ home. Its a nice red beer with a great head. Taste and smell is like a wine. I’m not a wine-drinker but I liked the beer.

Bottle 33cl. Head: beige, small, avg. retention. Colour: deep red-brown. Aroma: dark dry fruit (prune), wine/vinegar, sharp yeasty / barnyard. Taste: sour, but not really acid, some dried fruit too. Not really my thing, but interesting. Y

2012 Vintage. 250mL bottle at DHVL, pours a opaque dark amber brown with a medium beige head. Aroma of dark stone fruits oak, and bready malts. Flavour brings out muted dark stone fruits, a tinge of oak character, and bready malts. Pretty simply beer, which is nice to try so you can appreciate all the other Rodenbach beers for a point of comparison. Not very complex or with many layers -- but solid stuff and drinkable.

UPDATED: MAY 10, 2013 Bottle at Stubbies in Gaineville poured ini Rodenbach tulip. Not what I was expecting after having their Vintage 2010. Really more of a quad, dubbel, or Belgian dark. Pours dark brownish res with a thin fluffy head on top. Aroma of plums and cherry, with verry littke sourness. Flavor follows, with some additional strong malt flavor and a bit of molasses, black cherry and a hint of funk. A very good and flavorful beer but not on style here. Medium to heavy slick mouthfeel, soft and smooth on the palate.

250ml bottle. Dark brown-red colour, thin beige head and aroma of wine, vinegar, dark fruits, barnyard. Taste is sour, with tart lemon, sweet cherry & plum, plus woody oak & cola-like notes and some light bitterness & biscuity malt in the finish. Slick mouth feel, light bodied, medium carbonation. Quite drinkable.
