Pours opaque black/brown with a loose brown head. Smell is dark roasted malt, licorice, dark chocolate and a hint of mocha. Taste is bitter chocolate, char, mocha ending dry and slightly bitter...charcoal remaining on the tongue. Body is medium/full and slick with nicely structured carbonation. Overall tons of flavor and a nice drinking stout.

Bottled, thanks to Arjen for sharing. Black appearance, lasting brown head. Nose of roasted malts, coffee, some lactic notes. Dry malty and bitter finish, quite some sourness, licorice, laurel. Lasting bitter finish. Complex and experimental, i can imagine why this may be appealing to some. But the laurel/licorice is just really not my thing.

On draft at In de Wildeman, Amsterdam. Opaque black appearance, brownish head. Strong aroma of roasted malts, peat, coffee, liquorice, impressive. Complex malty flavor, smoky, some sweetness, more dry towards finish. Much more complexity than i had thought considered its ABV. Very nice brew.

Bottle from ABC Beers, Den Haag. Poured a deep mahogany colour with a broken tan head. The aroma is dry malt leading to a strong bitter flavour with liqourice and coffee on the palate. This was a whole lot better than I was expecting. The liqourice bitterness is smooth, well controlled and far from overpowering.

33cl bottle @ home. After pouring the beer has a great red/brown head. Smells like dark chocolate. Taste like roasted malts.

UPDATED: APR 30, 2013 Dark opaque brown almost black with an orange tint and a frothy, brown, disappearing, non-lacy head. Deep smell of roasted malt and smoke, chocolate with butter and sweet dark caramel and toffee. Dark fruits – cherry, plum, prune. Full oily body. Sweet initial taste of caramel and milk chocolate, lots of roast ash and dark chocolate in the middle with a liquorish, fruity finish. From sweet to burnt bitter to sweet again in one sip. It would be amazing with a chocolate mousse. An excellent porter. Deep and delicious.

I rated the other Nightporter at first, but since on my bottle says peated malt as one of the ingredients, I guess is this one. 330 ml bottle at home, poured into an english pint glass. ABV 8% Totally black in colour, with a big, soapy head, brown in colour. Very good retention, it took ages to go down. Not much lacing left on the glass. Intense aroma of roasted malts and coffee, some light chocolate and sort of smokey aroma as well. Excellent. Sweet taste at first, turning mildly bitter on the aftertaste. Lots of roasted malts, coffee, dark chocolate, smokey flavours somewhere on the back and a few traces of the high alcohol. Medium to full body, average carbonation. Nice dryness on the palate. Overall a delicious beer. Highly recommended.
