MonsterMagnet (331) - NETHERLANDS - APR 21, 2014
UPDATED: APR 30, 2014 Bottle, batch NP-202, bb feb 2016. Pours pitch black with a tan head. Aroma: Dark chocolate, espresso, nuts, somewhat earthy and roasty. Taste: chocolate, licorice, dark fruit, coffee, laurel, toffee with smoke and peat hints. Fairly sweet, with a good balancing bitterness and slightly sour. Smooth, oily moutfeel, a complex, full body and a long lasting bitter chocolate finish with a bit of peat. Everything?s just right. Lovely, lovely, lovely!

worldbeertaste (1693) - West Midlands, ENGLAND - APR 16, 2013
UPDATED: APR 30, 2013 Dark opaque brown almost black with an orange tint and a frothy, brown, disappearing, non-lacy head. Deep smell of roasted malt and smoke, chocolate with butter and sweet dark caramel and toffee. Dark fruits – cherry, plum, prune. Full oily body. Sweet initial taste of caramel and milk chocolate, lots of roast ash and dark chocolate in the middle with a liquorish, fruity finish. From sweet to burnt bitter to sweet again in one sip. It would be amazing with a chocolate mousse. An excellent porter. Deep and delicious.

The head is ok, the body black. It smells sweet. The taste is roasty-sweet, creamy, roasty-bitter. In the aftertaste it is very roasty, very intensiv, chocolate-alcoholic. Very good! I love that one ! 11/13/12/12/10/13

This beer looks realy beautyful in your glass. Brown foamy head and deep dark body. The taste is chocolate and smoked. It is a nice mouth feel and a nice balance in taste.

Nearly black, brown head. Dark dried fruits, chocolate, coffee, burned sugar aromas. Flavor is rich and full, roasty, espresso, cocoa, nice dark fruits. Good stuff!

Small dark orange-tan head over virtually black beer. Smoked, smoked wood, salty, dark malts, even smoked mackerel. Smoked in the flavour as well, woody, bitter chocolate, burning logs. Very well-bodied, viscous, warming & rewarding. I’m impressed! This ranks easily amongst the best porters I’ve ever tasted.
