Poured from bottle, pours pretty much pitch black with a thick brown head and tons of lacing, aroma is of heavy chocolate and malt with a little bit of coffee mixed in as well, the flavor has a sweet front end with some dark fruit and chocolate in the finish as well, wow, really impressed.

Draft @ PWBF’11:
Light brown vast foamy lacing on top of a black beer.
Smell hops, yellow fruits, malt, fish and spices.
Taste is a fresh mix of yellow fruit, light sweet, light liquorice, malts, caramel and spices.
Low carbo, full body and soft mouthfeel. Impressive.

Tap @ week van het Nederlandse bier. Black pour, huge tan head. Aroma is roasty, peaty, bready and a bit of coffee and ash. Flavor is dry, roasty, ashy, slightly bitter and subtle. Very well balanced. Not that peaty, but very well drinkable.

Served at room temp. Medium body, dark brown with tan head. Tastes of chocolate, licorice, and coffee. Tried at the Nederlandse Bierweek openingsfestival with Paul, Dave, and Erol.

I’m always a bit impressed with peated beers like this. Halfway between a nice scotch flavor and a campfire. Obviously, the peat dominates the aroma and flavor, but there is a slight sweetness that moderates the punch.

Almost black bodied, with an enormous head that generates brown floaties. Stroopsoldaatjes (Dutch carmael and butter candy)... Rich sweet toffee, caramel, dried figs, coffee beans, palm sugar and a hint of alcohol. Sweet, full taste, with a proper bitterness at the back. Oily mouth feel, with some fruity notes. A proper dessert beer! Well made. (33cl bottle, fairly priced)

Huge dense mocha head over dark brown body. The head is so thick it looks like melted ice cream and rises a good two centimeters above the rim of the glass. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, liquorish, very rich. Taste of very dark coffee, bitter chocolate, some sort of liquor, dry roast. Palate is very dry and roasty.

I rated the other Nightporter at first, but since on my bottle says peated malt as one of the ingredients, I guess is this one. 330 ml bottle at home, poured into an english pint glass. ABV 8%
Totally black in colour, with a big, soapy head, brown in colour. Very good retention, it took ages to go down. Not much lacing left on the glass.
Intense aroma of roasted malts and coffee, some light chocolate and sort of smokey aroma as well. Excellent.
Sweet taste at first, turning mildly bitter on the aftertaste. Lots of roasted malts, coffee, dark chocolate, smokey flavours somewhere on the back and a few traces of the high alcohol.
Medium to full body, average carbonation. Nice dryness on the palate.
Overall a delicious beer. Highly recommended.

UPDATED: OCT 5, 2013 0,33l bottle @ Charlie’s, Dark brown almost black with a frothy orange/brown, disappearing head. Deep smell of roasted malt and smoke, chocolate with butter and sweet dark caramel and toffee. Dark fruits – cherry, plum, prune. Full oily body. Sweet initial taste of caramel and milk chocolate, lots of roast ash and dark chocolate in the middle with a liquorish, fruity finish. At first sweet, then bitter, with a rich alter taste. A verry good beer.

Zeer donker bier, mooie bruinige schuimkraag. Ruikt naar chocolade, koffie. Smaak is puur, mooi in balans. Koffie en cacoa. Erg mooie stout.
