Bottle from de Mitra in Gorinchem. The beer is nearly black colored and pours a red/brown sticky head, with a lot of carbonation. It looks really beautiful in your glass. The aroma is powerfull with tones of roasted and smoked malts, dark chocolate and coffee. The taste is bittersweet with the tones from the aroma. The finish is full bodied, bitter and a little smokey. Wonderfull beer, nothing else to say.

33cl bottle. Poured black colored, thin brown head. Woody, roasted malty aroma, some licorice, strong coffee notes. Pleasant aroma overall. Some red wine notes actually. Flavor has roasted malt, cocoa, dark chocolate, hops. Long, but quite dry finish, some vinous notes, roast. Easy to drink despite the high ABV. Very tasty.

Tap at ’t Arendsnest. Dark brown pour with a light, tan head. Cocoa roast aroma, sweet dark malts. Quite sweet flavor, medium roasty, dry coffee, some dark fruits, chocolate straight. Medium in body with fine carbonation. Rich chocolate finish, malty, sweet, light to medium roast. Good beer.

On tap at T’Arendsnest, Amsterdam, Netherlands on Friday 30.09.11 Thick, heavy black beer with a light beige head. There is definately some peatiness going on here, there is also some spirit, though it is not too heavy or overpowering. Nice roasty cappuccino, with some spent coffee grains aplenty. Nice beer. Pours opaque black/brown with a loose brown head. Smell is dark roasted malt, licorice, dark chocolate and a hint of mocha. Taste is bitter chocolate, char, mocha ending dry and slightly bitter...charcoal remaining on the tongue. Body is medium/full and slick with nicely structured carbonation. Overall tons of flavor and a nice drinking stout.
