gam (576), brisbane, Australia Dec 5, 2007 Nice pour of dark red brown ,small head aroma sweet and citric ,has a nice crisp taste of berries and citrus ,carbonation was good made a difference. Some flavours weren,t strong as to make it a tangy drink, though the finish result was okay leaving a pleasant result of freshness.Very good for 3.8% beer.
Muggus69 (232), Sydney, Australia Sep 25, 2008 330ml bottle. Pours a very nice clean copper-amber body with a smallish dense beige head, leaving lace on the way down.
Good nose packed with the fruity citrus hops you can come to expect from its big brother, bit of grainy caramel malt in the background.
Body is tremendously full for the strength, smooth slightly clingy mouthfeel, moderate carbonation, drying texture.
Cereal and toffee malts in the background, notes of grapefruit and peach skin, maybe a touch of pine and grass, hops seem dominant and distracting. Finishes with a decent hit of bitterness, slightest bit chalky.
Fantastic ’midstrength’, would give most full strength Aussie amber ales a run for their money. Highly sessionable and flavoursome.
Spesh1 (26), , Australia Aug 5, 2008 Good appearance, nice hoppy aroma, Caramel malt flavour that is well balanced. Top mid strength. Vac (2253), San Diego, California, USA Jun 12, 2008 Bottle from the aussie bar in the Gaslamp (can’t remember it’s name). Pours with a deep amber body topped by a thin head with some lacing. It’s nice and hoppy wtih a grassy and slightly grapefruity note as well as an underlying sweet maltiness. Meidum bodied and tingly from the carbonation. MBison (403), Southern Highlands, Australia Feb 18, 2008 Bottle (330ml). Poured a copper color with a off-white, frothy head which was mostly diminishing. Aroma was of leeches, strawberries with mixed berries and mild notes of hops. Flavor was of canned fruit, strawberries, raspberries, mild toffee and a mild hop bitterness. Light bodied with lively carbonation, watery texture, light mouthfeel and an average finish. alexen84 (25), Australia Feb 2, 2008 Best mid-strength on the market. The only one with a nice balance of hops and malt. Perfect for those nights you just have to be the driver etc.
