2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Growler from the Malt Market. I don’t know what to think of this. It *looks* like a scotch ale, red-tinged clear with a decent head. But my first reaction to the taste is...grapefruity hops. Certainly not any English hops I’m used to, and it doesn’t taste like English ale yeast. More like an offbeat pale ale or IPA. Not bad, but not to style. I honestly wonder whether this was a screw up on the part of the pourer (although again, it looks the part).

1.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 4/20
Bottle @ home, courtesy of BroIPA. Thanks! Pours a touch hazy brunt orange appearance with a frothy tan head. Light veggie, burnt sugar, bready yeasty, light toffee aroma. Somewhat fruity, chewy, bready, herbal, caramel, light chocolate, mild veggie flavor. Kind of all over the place before you even consider the veggie notes and you are left with a less than enjoyable product.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
I found the nose on this was mostly where the Belgian sweetness showed itself and the flavor was where its English style revealed itself. The palate was medium to full in the front, what you’d expect from a Scotch ale, but it was light and a bit watery in the finish. I got no bitterness. A very drinkable beer, doesn’t exhaust the palate, nor is the alcohol overwhelming. I wish the nose on mine was a bit more revealing.
