Seven different malts and three different hops go into our Porter for a smooth yet complex flavor. Ost offers light roast malt with a rich smoothness and a dry finish. Ideally served at 50-55F to best reveal its chocolate, caramel, coffee, and roasted malt notes.

Black body with a lasting off white head. Smells of pear and chocolate. Flavor is a lot of roast with a unsweet cocoa flavor. I personally like a less roasty more chocolate sweet flavor. A bit thin on the body. A bit of banana and plum linger with the dry cocoa.

Dark brown pour, tan head. Roasty up front, some cocoa powder, ashy and a bit of hops on the finish.

22oz bottle 11/12/13 (Whole Foods’ Lamar)-Pours black with a small tan head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, and roasted malt. Taste of the same with more chocolate and coffee. This full bodied brew is a great tasting porter.

Trade from Errl-thanks, Chris! Deep dark brown with pretty persistent head. Nose mostly dark malts maybe dark chocolate. Nice palette but pretty much just bitter malts on the taste. Dry finish. Prefer a richer fuller bodied porter.

Pretty good one here, first time trying this Texas brewery. Appearance pretty standard porter. Black and opaque with a fairly typical head and lace. Aroma is roasty, a little astringent, with a touch of dark caramel malt, and some standard coffee, chocolate, roasty, and burnt notes. Flavor follows. The astringent qualities make it seem like higher ABV than it is. Could maybe use a little tweaking, but don’t get me wrong, it’s tasty beer. I will have to try another from this brewery next time I’m at that store.

Sample at Hay Merchant. Pours a dark brownish-black color with a medium foamy tan head that recedes gradually. Small patches of lacing. Aroma of roasted malt and coffee. Light to medium body with a roasty coffee and malt character, with some chocolate in the background. The finish is semi-sweet with a mocha aftertaste. Above average overall.

Bomber poured a clear dark reddish brown with a lasting tan head. Aromas of bakers cocoa, vanilla, caramel and a hint of coffee. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of roastiness, bakers cocoa, vanilla and a hint of coffee with a smooth lingering cocoa finish.

From bottle pours pitch black with little brown head. Smell is smoky and syrupy Taste is dark chocolate that finishes with coffee and a little smoke Overall pretty good especially if not served too cold this beer is not nearly as filling as it appears

Tres dark, thin khaki head. Smells bacony, not sweet. Slightly smoky, grassy dry, some smokiness. Not going to set the world on fire but drinkable, session weight. On tap, Hay Merchant, Houston.

Bottle:   Thinking this may be infected, huge frothy dark beige head, will not stop foaming.   Luckily the bottle didn’t explode.   Roasty nose, slight lactose, a little ash and campfire.   Nice roasty start, slight apple skin, semi-sweet, a little acrid.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Seems a hefty Porter, almost Stout like.   Somewhat airy, otherwise moderate body and mouthfeel.   Roasted, ashy, and campfire finish.   Lingering apple skin.   I could get over the airiness, if it had more body.   However, if it had more body it probably wouldn’t be as airy as it is.   Average Porter, decent roast, moderate hop, but perhaps over the hill?   I sat on this for only 5 months...   Not bad, but when it comes out of an ice bath and it still foams pretty hard, it tells me a lot.   Thanks Bill!
