One Brew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest Ale was brewed in homage to the work of counterculture author Ken Kesey.* This ale is in the Maibock style of brew. Deep in honey color with a malty aroma and rich, hearty flavor. Made with homegrown hops and malts from Rogue Farms, Independence and Tygh, Oregon. - See more at: http://www.madeinoregon.com/Rogue-One-Brew-Over-The-Cuckoos-Nest-Ale.html#sthash.2nxd6KmY.dpuf

22. Ugliest damn bottle ever. Pours a crystal clear medium amber with dense and sudsy off white head. Rich earthy leafy caramel nose. Creamy medium body with lively carb. Earthy sweet caramel mid palate with long ea r thy sweet finish. Shockingly good for rogue.

Interesting: whereas Dead Guy is their maibock-influenced flagship, this is supposed to be a true maibock. I’d recommend going with either a real German maibock or Dead Guy. Or, if you can get your hands on one: XS Dead Guy. This isn’t terrible, but that maltiness you expect doesn’t shine through and it feels like it’s missing a little soul. Well, to the extent that something German can have a soul. (Kidding.)
