Pours a dark orange - brown with a vanishing head and some roast & sweetness in the aroma. Robust roast & bitterness comes through first and ends slightly sweet, roasted, chocolaty, and ever so slightly sour. The body is silky & thin, even a little watery, but has enough substance in its malts to give it an overall good profile. Gets better & better as it warms in the glass. Overall; eh, its ok.

Bottle from Taps Beer Bar, Changkat, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a clear dark brown with a broken off white head. The aroma is roasty malt, coffee, molasses. The flavour is moderate liqourice bitter with a light, slightly watery, liqourice bitter, burnt toffee, coffee, dark chocolate palate and a lingering coffee bitter finish. Medium bodied with average carbonation. I’d prefer a little more body but there is plenty going on flavour wise.

Appearance: nearly opaque black with two fingers of light tan head, excellent retention and lacing. (5/5) Aroma: intense coffee, dark malt, mild milk chocolate, dark fruit, light spice. (7/10) Taste: moderate sweet, moderate bitter. (7/10) Full slightly sticky body, moderate-low carbonation, lingering bitter finish. (4/5) Not bad, although the coffee comes across a bit aggressive. Not bad for Rogue, but as usual they seem to be trying for a level of complexity they’re just not capable of pulling off. (15/20)

22 ounce bottle - $6.98 at Sherlock’s in Kennesaw, Georgia.

Appearance: Pours a very dark brown body beneath a medium-sized, light beige-colored head.

Smell: Blended malty notes of darkened breadcrust, nutty caramel, melty milk chocolate, and, of course, the coffee beans with faint, faint hints of spice and fruit. I found it nice and inviting.

Taste: Just as with the aroma, it’s a pleasantly malty melange of chocolate, toasted bread, smooth caramel and upscale cola. Plus, the balanced coffee addition. Medium sweetness. Tiny pinch of malted milk. A light fruitiness of golden raisin. Modest hop flavors, lightly bitter. Malty finish, still with the coffee and a light, lingering sweetness.

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Carbonation is just a hair of medium.

Overall: Getting through some of today’s heavy, heavily flavored beers takes time and effort, people, and dammit, I don’t have a lot of either. However, this was a joy to drink. Whaddya say, Rogue, can we toss Mocha Porter and replace it with this offering year-round?

Bottle from Appellation Wines. Appearance - opaque black with a fluffy creamy head. Nose - massive coffee bean plus milk chocolate. Taste - toffee and coffee coming through at the back, toffee returns on the finish. Palate - medium bodied with a creamy & sticky middle section and a fairly dry and balanced finish. Overall - a nice beer. Some different layers going on.

I had this beer with geitost cheese and it was great. It is pretty pricey but occasionally on sale at Whole Foods where I buy it.
