Scopey (8235) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - FEB 1, 2015
Big Grenade Can from Ales By Mail. It pours hazy orange-amber with small off-white head. The nose is sweet, toasty, wood, toffee, mild spice, soft fruits, resin and muffin. The taste is bitter, toasty, resin, spice, caramel, mild citrus, earthy roast and a touch of coffee with lingering dry finish. Medium body and average carbonation. Fine, but not a whole lot going on. Easy drinker anyhow.

Takeaway bottle from ’Spoons, poured reddish brown with a big, fast-settling head. Aromas of herby, grassy hops and toffee with faint hints of caramelised apple. Crisp and toasty with a tingling dry-bitterness offsetting the sweetish toffee malt. Really rather nice!

Good flavor balance for an "American" ale that is not too hoppy. No traditional flavors of an Amber Ale though. Bought in a cool US Military supportive pint sized grenade-painted can.
