A little weak on flavor, but I suppose it is an Amber

Bottle from The Beerhive. Hazy ruby body with an off-white head. Very light carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of caramel, citrus and a subtle dark chocolate note.. Flavour of biscuit, tea, caramel and muted citrus. Medium body with a very oily texture. Soft fizz. Tasty but not particularly memorable.

330ml bottle. Cloudy red color. Tiny size head, disappears. Peanut skins, faint roast, malts, white caramel candy in aroma. Sweet roasted malts, faint dusty hops, caramel in taste. I think I’ve had it before under different name. Not bad, but also not exciting.

Rouge American Amber Ale has a thin (shelf glass), cream-colored head, a very hazy, deep amber appearance, and a good amount of lacing left on the glass. The aroma is of sweet, medium-roasted barley malt, medium-roast coffee, citrus, and hop resin. Taste is of those elements, but of tea, rather than coffee. The hop bitterness is noticeable, but not harsh. Mouthfeel is medium and somewhat slick, and Rouge American Amber Ale finishes semi-dry and easy going. Overall, it’s one to check out. RJT

12 ounce bottle into signature pint glass, no bottle dating. Pours moderately hazy/cloudy copper amber color with a 1 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of grapefruit, orange zest, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, toast, biscuit, light nuttiness, herbal, floral, and toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance of malt and hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of grapefruit, orange zest, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, toast, biscuit, light nuttiness, herbal, floral, and toasted earthiness. Fair amount of earthy floral bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, orange zest, caramel, toffee, toast, biscuit, light nuttiness, herbal, floral, and toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity and robustness of hop and malt flavors; with a nice malt/hop balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a fairly creamy, smooth and lightly bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice amber ale. All around good balance and robustness of hop and malt flavors; and very smooth to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Red/amber pour with a thick off white head. Malty, caramel aroma, not much else. Taste is pretty heavy on the caramel, sweet, malty, with a little floral taste and fairly low bitterness. It’s pleasant and very, very drinkable but not too complicated

12oz bottle into a pint glass. Pours a hazy dark red with a rocky two finger off-white head. Very good head retention and lacing. The aroma is very malty right off the bat. Lots of spice and rye character with a touch of earthiness thrown in. Pretty good. The malt is very nice in the flavor but there is a noticeable lack of hops. More rye spiciness a earth dominates and there is a very light bitterness in the background but not what I was expecting. I think some of the earth in the flavor is from the hops possibly. Silky smooth mouthfeel but a bit chalky. Overall, a nice try from Rogue but it barely misses the mark. If this beer had some more buttering hops it would kick it up a notch and make for a very good brew. As-is it is just ok.
