3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 VillageBeerVin (17) - Buffalo, New York, USA - OCT 21, 2009A dark amber pour with a nice frothy tan head. Nutty roasted malt aroma. Fairly thin beer for something this dark. Flavor is a mix of toasty malt and light grapefruit pith bitterness and floweriness from the hops. A bit sour as well, but makes it that much smoother. Lingering bitter sting like that of a grapefruit. Almost like a darker English Bitter with American hops. Decent session.

Bready aroma and a hint of coffee. Pours clear darkish amber with a substantial white head. Tastes dark and chocolaty, almost like a porter but with a lingering bitterness. Decent mouthfeel but not a lot of carbonation.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 JCB (3808) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - MAY 16, 2013
Had this one a bazillion times over the years. As American ambers go, it’s among the more balanced and inviting. Hazy amber pour, with leafy hops and caramel notes in the nose. Taste is blessedly free of the cloying malts that overload so many examples of the style. This one’s got the candy, but there’s a ripe and herbal quality to it that balances things out. Not bad.

Marrom bem avermelhada. Boa formação de espuma, com media persistência. Aroma de malte torrado, caramelo, frutado, passas. Sabor de malte tostado, médio dulçor e baixo amargor.

Bottle. Murky amber pour with a nice spotty white head. Big toasty caramel malt all over this one. Nice little hop kick in here. Really nice amber.

12 oz bottle pours a hazy reddish/brown color with average eggshell head and some lacing. Aroma is full of caramel malts, ripe fruit, floral hops, and pine resin. Taste is initially sweet with a bitter, hoppy and nutty finish. Body is medium with average carbonation and a lightly sticky mouthfeel. A good but not great amber ale that I’m glad to have tried.

As easily forgettable as most Ambers, and most of Rogue’s lighter beers. Nothing unique about it.

A good strong taste to this ale. I wouldn’t call this an all time favorite but I really enjoy drinking this.
