COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Beard beer is brewed with a yeast created from Brewmaster John Maier’s beard. No need to freak out, brewers have used wild yeasts in beer making for centuries. John has had the same old growth beard since 1978 and for over 15,000 brews, so it is no great surprise that a natural yeast ideal for brewing was discovered in his beard. What does bread beer taste like? try it, we think you’ll be surprised...

[Tap] Hazy amber pour with a lasting white head. Sweet grains, yeast and clove in the aroma. Wheat malt, fruity esters, clove and raisin in the taste. Muddled flavor profile. Glad I didn’t know about the beard yeast until just now.

Sampled at AC Beerfest 2014. Poured a hazy gold color with a small off white head. Aroma of light citrus and caramel malt. Taste mimics the nose with faint citrus notes, caramel malt, and bitter grapefruit in the finish.

I should not have read the description for this beer. It may have skewed my rating. Can’t get over the yeast came from someone’s beard.

Lagerboy (1186) - British Columbia, CANADA - APR 7, 2014
Bomber. Unclear orange, off-white foam settles quickly. Fruity yeasty aroma. Tropical fruity yeasty taste, mild pale bready malts, some spice and citrus. Softer than average carbonation, medium bodied, lightly hopped. A nice enough easy quaff, though the premise (and the label) are far from appealing. LBW (Lagerboys Be Wary)

too unique a concept to pass up. Pours slightly orange gold with a medium head. Light yeasty aroma. Taste is yeasty, some cloves. Not bad.

Bottle sample as a bonus beer at the Belgian Strong Ale tasting at Blacklick Wine & Spirits on 4/3/14. Clear gold to amber pour with a medium off-white head. Aroma of malt, corn, cereal and slight hop. Malty and piney flavor with slight citrus before a bland finish.

Tap. Slightly hazy golden orange pour with a spotty white head. Berries, clove, and yeast in this. Pretty tasty. Easy drinker.

Thanks for sharing, bro! Light Belgian yeast aroma. Taste is much the same, easily drinkable. Better than expected!

Cloudy amber, no head. Aroma is slightly corny, hint of wheat, doughy bread and some sour cherries. Light vague fishiness as well. Taste is much better, with malt at the front, light balanced hop and a light sour on the finish. Some clovey spice and ester notes there too. Soft carbonation and medium body. Okay beer but nothing to knock your socks off.
