COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Beard beer is brewed with a yeast created from Brewmaster John Maier’s beard. No need to freak out, brewers have used wild yeasts in beer making for centuries. John has had the same old growth beard since 1978 and for over 15,000 brews, so it is no great surprise that a natural yeast ideal for brewing was discovered in his beard. What does bread beer taste like? try it, we think you’ll be surprised...

Bottle. Gold colored with a short white head. Fruity nose with sweet malt, candyish notes, light spices and yeast. Taste is ripe fruits, yeast, soft spices, sweet malt, floral notes and candied fruit. Body is medium with a strong, bubbly carbonation. Finishes with more sweet malt, grass, floral hops, ripe fruits, yeast and soft spice notes.

Clear golden under a thin white head. The nose is earthy and funky with a dusty melon and apricot and loads of hay on the funky aroma. The flavor is semi-sweet and lightly funky/sour, but that sourness is only at the start. Then it blends into a mellow and balanced Belgian blonde cereal malt tone. Overall a bit average but with an interesting earthy funk at the start.

On tap at Rogue in SF. Staff actually told me this was a saison in style and I think it largely drinks like one. Flavours are forward - coriander, rhubarb and spice - and does tail off a bit but largely hangs well together.

bomber Appearance:Medium amber with a fullfoamyhead (2 fngers) light lacing. Aroma: light yeast, funk, lemon, herbs and some esters Taste: Quite sweet, sour esters, ripe fruits.. floral hops, light funkyness, The finish is very sweet radler lemon lemonade like.Allthough there is a bit more going on.Depending on the amount of air different tastesof the palates come more forward Perfect medium body and slightly below average carbonation. Ignoring the bad Rogue marketting gimmick. Which will divide it mostly in 2 groups, People who say disgusting and who say great find. In the end it’s just another yeast, which was fully cultured. (So it just sounds fancy marketing wise.). What remains is a ok,solid brew., but relying mostly on the gimmick to increase the sales.

@ Party Town / Florence KY --- Medium amber with a full bubbly head cover, a sheet of lace. Taste is straight malt that adds bitter herbs and hay, tobacco, maybe some cloves, maybe some coriander. For so much going on, the taste is muted, even a little thin. Okay, not memorable.

Bottle: Hazy, gold...with a tall, parchment coloured head. Slightly lemony, funky aroma. Taste is white fruits, peppery.....saison-like....sweet and Belgian leaning. Really quite good.... Rogue certainly does get a bit out there......pretty good job, though...once you get past the mental bit.
