COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Beard beer is brewed with a yeast created from Brewmaster John Maierís beard. No need to freak out, brewers have used wild yeasts in beer making for centuries. John has had the same old growth beard since 1978 and for over 15,000 brews, so it is no great surprise that a natural yeast ideal for brewing was discovered in his beard. What does bread beer taste like? try it, we think youíll be surprised...

Draft at Unoís. Pours clear tan with head that fades quickly. Nose is yeasty with mild funk. First sip is more like a Belgian pale or dark saison than wild ale. Tastes like brett and sacro with pale malt and lemon grass finish is balanced.

Tap from Lazy Dog. Pours a transparent gold with almost no head. Aroma is very yeasty. Taste funky. Very.

Pours a hazed light orange, not too carbonated. Nice head and froth. Good mouthfeel. Some citrus and slight sour.Leather, tobacco, hay, earthy, some berry fruit. This is pretty good really.Full mouthfeel. I like the finish and enjoy the aroma. Dig this.

Bottle. Lemon and barley malt aroma. Golden yellow with moderate head. Light lemon, barley malt and moderately bitter herbal hay flavor. Pleasant - if you can get past the beard thing.

Poured from tap into a pint glass at the brewery. It is a clear amber color with little head. Good taste. Don't know that I would order another one.

You should be so precious to fret about where the yeast comes from. This is pretty nice, although itís a little thin overall. Nice bitterness, nice aroma, decent carry and thoroughly acceptable.

To be honest, was hoping for something weirder, or at least terrible, so I could write a funny rating or something like that. But it isnít Itís actually kind of plain. I have better, I have worse.

Smells sour which is gross when you think about where the yeast comes from. Not a fan of this. On tap at track town.

Truly a wild ale. Very complex flavor. Aroma of a nice sour but unfortunately it would be better to sniff then consume. Yeast runs wild overpowering any real flavor. A good beer to avoid.

[Tap] Hazy amber pour with a lasting white head. Sweet grains, yeast and clove in the aroma. Wheat malt, fruity esters, clove and raisin in the taste. Muddled flavor profile. Glad I didnít know about the beard yeast until just now.
